What should Bradley do? (Last scholarship)

Getting an impact 6'8" stud from a JUCO that can contribute right away is a pipe-dream in my opinion. But, it would be nice...

I'd take a 6'7" - 6'9" wide body who can rebound and play defense. We would not need much scoring. I'd take 8 rpg, 8ppg if he could play 20+ minutes and be an intimidating presence down low.

I agree, however, do you realize that 8 and 8 would be 2nd and 7th in the valley for bigs respectively? I would take that any year!

I'm not sure if this is saying no or yes, because in my mind in recent memory we have had some very good luck with JUCO bigs. Have you forgotten Sommerville and ZA already. I agree MS and DC look to not be GREAT, but they still did their part and weren't shabby. I do think however that we need to be careful, as in there is no need to use the 2nd scholarship on a "project" juco big guy. Get one that we know for sure is going to come here and play with smarts and tenacity hence me saying "I'd take another Z.Andrews in a heartbeat".

Remember that Cellus wasn't what you would call a true JuCo player as he was originally a D-1 transfer...

Also Zach and Matt were two very inconsistent players for the 2 years they were here...

Therefore I still stand by my point of having trouble believing we could get a standout JuCo BIG...

The best 2 JuCo players we've received lately were Boogie and now Theron...not BIGS...

I'd rather take my chances on a JuCo shooter or another 4 year player.

We'll need someone next year who can guard a 5 and command the paint early on. I would not bet that WE will be ready to play significant minutes until the 2nd part of the season. My guess is that AT will not be able to command the paint. Unless JP is that guy and that would be asking way to much froma Freshman we need a JUCO bigman who loves to bang and do the dirty work. It would be nice if they can catch an interior pass and hit a point blank shot also! A ZA clone would be perfect!

The other question can SS still ask for an additional year?

I think that we can get by this year without recruiting a guard. If we dont sign a guard with this class, I think we would need to sign one guard next year. As many have said, my top priority would be a JUCO big for one scholarship and a 3 who can shoot lights out for the other scholarship.

Next year we have 5 bigs and 6 gaurds on scholarship. Just looking at next year you might say we should get a big man.
The problem with that now is JW thinks he may be at BU for the year after (2010/11).
If he does make it here that year we will already have 7 bigs and only 4 gaurds for that year. If we use a scholarship this next year on a big that would give us 8 bigs for 2010/2011. I seriously doubt that JL would go that route as that would only leave room for 5 gaurds.
To me it looks like you sign 2 gaurds for next year. I realize this would give us 8 gaurds and 5 bigs for 09/10 but I bet Les would rather have 8 gaurds in 09/10 than 8 bigs in 10/11.
I guess if you do sign 2 gaurds the best case senario is to redshirt one next year.

One thing about JL that has been consistent is that he recruits to win today and does not look to far in the future. I bet we go after a JUCO big for next year unless they believe that JP can contribute immediately. Our biggest weakness this year is our 5 spot without WE the next is a light out shooter that can create and AW takes care of that. I also think EN and DN will also develop into more consistant shooters as EM was showing that he can make that top of the key shot. If he starts hitting that shot often, the inside will open up or they will have to leave one of our shooters wide open for some nice set shots.
I like the make up of our 1-4, I just feel we are a bit weak at the 5 with WE coming back from a serious injury and AT as a complete unknown so far.
