If this is true and I hope it is for the sake of stability, then I have to say that we signed one too many guards in this recruiting class.
Maybe most college rosters could be perfected if we could hand-pick who we would put on the roster.
But, I think the BU staff is very happy with the current mix of players.
Of the 13 scholarship players, they have 7 guards, including several bigger guards that can play the wing position (the 2 or 3 position) in Warren, Roberts, and Dunson; they have another SG in Tyrone Cole-Scott who will bounce back next year, and they have great depth at point guard with Sam Maniscalco, Eddren McCain, Darian Norris, and Dunson, all of whom can also play the 2. Recall that what hurt BU most last season was our lack of depth at point guard.
And they have 6 forwards (Wilson, Austin, Singh, Collins, Thompson, and Egolf) who will all see significant playing time, which is more contributing bigs than we have had in most recent years.
They are aware that next year we will graduate 4 seniors, all of whom are bigs. With those 4 scholarships and any others that open, the priority will be big guys to replace those leaving. Maybe a juco or 2, since the class that will graduate in 2011 contains just 2 guys, Maniscalco and Egolf.
