Whew...end of game thoughts.

Just win baby win. A win on the road is good no matter what but dang.

An excruciating 2 for 13 on threes (15.5%). The good is that we didn't take as many as the past two games, but two made??

Another terrible free throw shooting performance with 13 for 24 at 54.4%

The good is only 9 turnovers on the road. And McCain with a big game with a 7/0 assist to turnover ratio. And we won.

Who do we think we are though....MEMPHIS?? We won't get much further with these free throw percentages being so low. And please DD should not take 3's anymore, 1 for 5. Sam M, DN, EM if even the last two should be the only ones to take 3's haha

We got a lot of better shots tonight but we cannot continue to miss freethrows, any win on the road is good. We need to toughen up now for the game in Carbondale.

I don't think DD is a very good 3pt shooter. He may be leading us in percentages, but that is not saying much. To be honest given the choice I say nobody should take a 3 unless its Sammy and he's pretty good and set. DD just doesn't have a pretty shot and it doesn't look like it's made for 3's.

And I never said he wasn't big for us tonight.

Well, sample size is big enough. I don't care what his shot looks like. If he keeps making ~35+% of his 3 pointers he can keep on shooting them. If he was 1-5 tonight, that makes him 26-73 tonight... or 35.6% on the season.

Maniscalco's shot is much prettier... After going 1-3 tonight, he should be 26-79 (32.9%).

Norris after going 0-2 is 10-38 (26.3%).

McCain was 0-2 tonight and is now 8-25 (32%).

Looks like Dodie's doing just fine beyond the arc.

Fair enough. I just think if he continues to take about 5 threes a game for the rest of the season his percentage will continue to drop. It may be high right now, but I'm going to say he doesn't have such a high percentage by the end of the season.

Oh then you're just jumping on the bandwagon. :D

Believe me I hope I'm wrong because we need someone to step up on 3's. I like taking around 10 three's a game..it's working for us, but if we are only making 1 or 2 of them it's not good...not good at all.

we weathered every run they threw at us...so that was a very good sign of maturity, as was only 9 turnovers, but mark my words...if we keep shooting free throws like this, we will be gone in st. louis first round. in the meantime...just win baby

Yes 4-10 or so would be fine, thanks. :)

Yeah, that almost cost Memphis a win tonight at Tulsa. Only a buzzer beater helped Memphis escape with a 55-54 win tonight!

We keep shooting FT's like this, we won't have a prayer against the Valley elite this year.

Maybe we are the Valley elite and if we start making our 3's and free throws look out! :D

We are not the elite. We are up there due to a not so tough conference schedule yet. Like said in a different post the 2nd half is the toughest. We are all saying the same thing...drop a few more threes (makes NOT attempts) and the free throws consistently we HAVE this league...we HAVE IT, but the last two games didn't look promising. Hopefully we turn those two aspects around while maintaining the defensive intensity.

Sorry to disagree, but statistically 35.6% for DD on the season equals an expected value of 1.068 points per shot. In order to get that good of an expected value on 2 points shots a player would have to average 53.4%. How many players do we have that average 53.4% on their 2 points shots?

In case you do not understand what I am stating, let's say a person that shoots 35.6% takes 50 3 point shots, that would equal 53.4 points. A person that shots 53.4% for 2 point shots takes 50 shots, that would also equal 53.4 points. Those percentages are equivalents given the different point values for making the shot. (Granted, there is more variability with three point shots in most cases, and more statistical computations would have to be done, but DD at 35.6% is not bad at all).

I think you broke their brains, Georges le chien.

Maybe you could show more clearly how you multiply a value by a probability to achieve an expected value. I have some strange feeling you may know a thing or two about that.

Whatever the % is, DD's shot does not look good from a pure shooting standpoint IMHO. Jeremy Crouch, Andrew Warren, pretty shots. DD's seems more like a push. But if it goes in, it goes in. And because I know so much more about Dodie's shot then he does ;)
