I thought I'd join this side of the board and pile on the Cardinals. They just can't seem to beat any of the American League teams. But after being pounded by the White Sox, Tony LaRussa claimed the White Sox were doing it by stealing signs!

He bases this insightful conclusion on the fact that he says they changed signs halfway through the second game with the Sox, and they only scored a couple more runs that game, and only 1 run the next (they still won all the games against the Cards).
So I guess we have proof!

By the way, though I don't believe it, is there any rule against stealing signs?
And how have the Sox managed to beat every other National League team they've played so badly (they are 10-1 against the NL Central)? Are they also stealing the Astro's and the Red's signs?
And what about the Cards? They can't beat the Tigers either. Are the Tigers stealing your signs, Tony?

The American League has continued to dominate the NL. In Saturday's interleague games, the AL won 11, the NL just 2, with 1 game postponed.

The AL now leads the NL 97-56, an amazing .634 winning percentage.
Only 2 NL teams have a winning percentage (Milwaukee 6-5 and Colorado 6-2). And no NL team has won more than 6 games against the AL.
Only 3 AL teams have a losing record, and 10 of the 14 teams have won at least 6 games. Several AL teams like Seattle (9-2), Minnesota (9-2), Detroit (9-2), White Sox (10-1), Tampa Bay (9-2), and Boston (10-1) are racking up the wins against the teams from the weaker NL.

I have heard several explanations for this difference, including the preferred one that it is because of the DH in the AL. If that's true, why hasn't the AL dominated the NL every year? They haven't. This is the first year that either league has dominated.---

The Cardinals were swept again by the Tigers. 6 losses in a row to American League teams.

The Cubs are currently being shutout 5-0 by the Twins. The Cubs know something about shutouts- they have been shutout a MLB-leading 8 times already this season, including 3-0 yesterday. This is getting pathetic.

I noticed the American League went 6-1 against the NL last night, as the dominance continues. The AL is now 109-65 against the NL (.626).

The Cubs were shut out again last night by the Brewers, the 10th time this season, which leads all of MLB! By comparison, the White Sox have been shut out once this year, and only once all last year, and the Yankees have not been shut out yet.

What is wrong with the Cubs? I could understand if they were losing because of all the injuries with their pitching, but they can't score any runs.

Coach, this is what's wrong with the Cubs:

I believe they have a good manager, but have the biggest stockpile of mediocre players any team has accumulated in decades, to go with the most decent players traded away or given away since the miserable Kansas City Royals of the 1960's.

Nomar Garciaparra-the Cubs didn't want him and let him go for absolutely nothing. What's he doing now??
Hitting .364 with OBP of .427 with the Dodgers, 82 hits, 46 RBI.

Corey Patterson, 8 homers, 31 RBI, 26 stolen bases now playing for the Orioles.

Then look at just about any deal they've made.
The Cubs got David Aardsma but sent LaTroy Hawkins to the Giants.
Aardsma's ERA is almost 6 and he hasn't impressed.
Hawkins is doing a decent job in middle relief, in 34 games, only walked 9 and ERA 4.09.

The Cubs have bought and dealt players so poorly that they deserve what they have.
The Cubs are 20th out of 30 teams in batting avvg., but DEAD LAST in on base pct., DEAD LAST in sluuging pct., DEAD LAST by a big margin in runs scored, and RBI, and 29th in HR.
They need to begin now to get someone who can play ball.

Last night, the AL was 8-5 in interleague play. The cumulative interleague record is now 117-70 with a few more games to go.

In interleague play Wednesday, the NL won all 3 late west coast games and an unlikely 9th inning comeback by the Cardinals to break their long losing streak, but the AL still had a good night and went 10-5 against the NL.
The overall interleague record is now 127-75 with 4 more days of interleague games left. It looks likely the AL will set a new record for wins in the interleague games. The previous high marks were 136-115 by the AL in 2000, and 136-116 by the AL in 2005.
