Will BU Gain Ground In 2012-13? (Vs just improving their abilities)

I really liked what I saw from WE on the bench last year. He has a very positive attitude and hopefully that attitude will be a nice addition to building a winning team chemistry.

I have noticed that the last couple seasons from WE - he is the big encourager on the team (at least from a fan's perspective) and hopefully he can be a vocal leader for BU in his senior season.
Will be great to have him back!!!

I heard that shayok has put on 25lbs of muscle already this summer!! Maybe he can get to the rim a little easier and finish...

Can anyone else back this up? This would be huge for Shayok to be another low post option aside from JP, WE, TP, and NW.
What Shayok can do is dribble-drive to the basket or he is a good offensive rebounder who can score on put-backs.

If I were Geno, I'd try to get the ball inside a lot more than last year with multiple options - probably as many since the Sweet 16 team with Sommervile, Andrews, O'Bryant, Boogie (though I'll stay away from comparison of these guys to our current guys) :D

That's (muscle) basically what the PJstar published on Sunday. They had a nice summary of each player. It mentioned SS and Egolf as 4's too.

I hope you're right!

With all the love SS is getting, sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one that wasn't terribly impressed. In fact, I didn't even like to see the ball in his hands.

I agree. I love the kid's athleticism but he has a LONG way to go if he plans on handling the ball and shooting from ten feet or more. I'd like to see him posted up more in the blocks to take advantage of his length and explosive leaping ability. We saw that some at the end of last year and he looked very good at times.

I too have heard that Shayok is north of 215 after playing in the low 190s last season. I also feel like we'll see him much more comfortable playing the 4 than he was at the 3.

we heard this news every year about Anthony Thompson, didn't we ?

What's that have to do with Shayok? He either gained the weight, or you don't believe that he did. From what I've heard, he's been working exceptionally hard.

With regards to AT, you were hearing it from a different regime about a player who was 4-5 inches taller than Shayok.

Anyway, I really think Shayok is going to make a big leap this year. Athletically, he could be a tough match-up at the 4.

I do not believe we ever really heard it about AT but were always hoping. What we heard was that he was not very dedicated during the off season. Why even go there on this thread? We complain about Wessler and his negativity of the past?

S.S putting on weight and muscle is good but he needs to get tougher something A.T. really never did, hard work during the summer should translate into a much improved S.S; no reason why he cannot be a decent scorer inside next season and with his ability be a very good rebounder if he wants it bad enough.

I didn't necessarily feel that Shayok lacked toughness last year, rather he was forced to play out of position on the wing. With Taylor Brown gone, I think we'll see a big leap forward by Shayok. He'll likely be more athletic than the typical power forward.

+1

I am not really certain that Shayk was playing out of position. I think that Shayok is a very raw talent that needs to be developed by the staff.
