Will Egolf scored 28 points, including 4 3-pointers, on Sunday as Juneau Douglas beat Ketchikan 78-70 in the final regular season game of the year. JDHS won Saturday also, and finished the season 19-3, and 8-0 in their 3 team conference. Ketchikan finshed 16-6, 4-4 with 4 losses to JDHS. They could meet one more time. Ketchikan will play Sitka on Thursday in the first round of the conference tournament, with the winner to play Juneau Douglas on Friday for the right to play in the state tournament in Anchorage.

4 3 pointers!!! Does anyone know what the coaching staff thinks Egolf's role will be next year? I mean at 6'9 if he can hit threes, can he make an impact right away?

I talked to a BU guy at the MVC tourney....he said that Will was one of the top guys to help next year of the 4 year recruits....they are very high on him...

My question to him was who of the new recruits do we think will contribute next season...

I really wonder if Fears won't have the biggest impact, but of the incoming Frosh...Will seems to be the Man!

I have heard from multiple people the Fears is the real deal. I cant wait to see what he can do. I agree he will have the most impact. If Egolf can give us any minutes it will be a huge plus at 6'9 he could be the tallest player to see the court next year, thats if Thompson redshirts. How deep will we go next year?

Ruff
JC
Fears
Brown
Austin
Is my guess for starting five.

With Warren, Williams, Salley, Egolf the next four.

That still leaves Buycks,Sam M,Thompson and Singh.

I really think we will redshirt two of the freshman. Thompson and maybe Buycks. I dont see how we can play more then 9 guys, even if we press the whole game.

6'8, 210...but a) there technically isnt a scholly for him yet and b) who knows where he is gonna go...it would be nice to have him but who knows at this point

FWIW - I heard from people who have stood next to and talked to Austin that he's more like 240 or 250, not 210.

I'm hoping that Egolf can be our inside out guy next year that we lacked this year. We need someone that can play inside but also step out and hit the 3. All the other good teams in the Valley have one. SIU has Shaw, CU has Watts, UNI had Stout, WSU had Wilson, EU had Webster, ISU has Dyer.

I would be surprised if Ray Brown can step in and start after a year off.. I would favor Warren to start before Brown...

Neither are bangers though...

I would say that Ruff, JC & Fears start at guards, with Salley and maybe another big on the blocks...

Warren first off bench, Sam M to spell Ruff at point, with Brown & Will Egolf getting some meaningful minutes....

We will be very young after starters next year....

No, and EU wasn't good either. WSU and UNI were marginal. I just thought of more examples of inside out guys on other teams. We really didn't have one this year. Cellus was that guy for us last year.

Have you seen Brown....he may not be a true banger but he's going to give us some bang for the buck. I don't mean for this to sound bad but he reminds me of one of those prison guys that have had two years in the yard tossing iron around.

He's getting big. I think he'll really help down low.

Ray Brown is a big, strong guy who will help inside if playing the 4th guard spot. He's got 2 inches on JC, who's a legit 6'5", which means he's got 3-4 inches on JJ Tauai and Danny Adams, the two guys who primarily played the 'power guard' spot this season. He would have helped this year, and should be an important contributor next year.

does anyone think Jim Les will even consider playing Ray Brown in the post season when he is eventually eligible????? I wouldnt think so but who knows....

Heemy-- did you get my e mail on this topic?
If not, then private message me and give me your email address
and I will send you some info...but I think it is highly unlikely Ray Brown will play this year even though his NCAA mandated penalty ends completely on 3/15/07.
