Will Egolf

IMO, I could definitely see the potential WE has shown from day 1. I am in disbelief because I didn't think our coaching staff would give him a chance like he had today. I absolutely believed that he had the ability to play like this. Great call on their part for picking now as the time to give him his shot and here's to the beginning of something good at the 5 spot for BU!

Coach Les said on the post-game show that Will had a great week of practice leading up to these tournament games, and was going to get his opportunity to play. He certainly took advantage of it tonight!! :)

Guess that maybe me, Ben, and a couple others aren't so dumb after all ;-)

At least with me, luck has a lot to do with it;-)

Honest question....what IF Collins has a good game against Richmond and Egolf goes back to being Egolf.

WE is our starter for now and I'd expect him to continue with his upward trend. DC will give us some serviceable minutes but he will not be the consistent guy that we need to be starting.

GO WE!

I agree with SFP. Egolf is our starter until he proves otherwise. One thing that I liked about tonights game was the platooning of our centers. Now if we can get AT going.....

He ran the floor. He altered shots. He scored inside and from mid-range. He rebounded and went after loose balls. He can sleep through practice as far as I'm concerned (little humor there). He's our number one 5 until someone else shows us something.

I dont know if TW or SM are missing Fts from being tired or what but both are down at the line this year..nice to see WE step up and knock down both FTs in crunch time!

Awesome game by Egolf.

There were a few times he went to the basket and threw the ball up to lay it in. I think one rimmed out and the other got blocked. I want to see him go to dunk the ball. We know he can. Heh.

I was disappointed at times where we didn't give the ball to Egolf after he setup under the basket. He was waving for the ball and had good position. We need to work that.

I bet we made less than 5 entry passes tonight. We have to have some sort of inside presence, even if it's just throwing the ball in just to kick it out. We'll never get open looks if we don't. Egolf is the most capable guy we've had on the block since Zach Andrews, and arguably since POB (at least in offensive upside). We should at least give him some looks if for no other reason than to draw the defense and try to get our shooters even better looks.

Big WE fan here.....he just needed the chance...here is hoping it continues.....

He made a great cut to the basket after a screen....to bad the guard (don't remember who) did not get him the ball.....

Like many have said he has no where to go but UP......Nice job Will!

Also props to SS.....Will's biggest fan.......Sam you are doing a great job being a Mentor and leader....

Thats the problem, in order to develop these bigs, they need more than 6 minutes a game. Egolf got the minutes tonight and proved he has something for this program. I say AT needs a chance as well.

Exactly! Give AT some minutes WITH Egolf!

Well...some of us have been asking for Will and Sam, Will and AT, Sam and AT, and so on for awhile now...

The only way that is going to happen is if Jim decides at some point to go big...

Haven't seen that since DC and AT were in together in exhibition play...

Once again, great game for Will...we all knew he had it in him.

Did you notice when he got the rebound he did not pass it up! It looked like he wanted to take those FTs.:-D He played with some panache and during his radio interview he seemed a bit cocky! I like it and I see a bright future for him on this team. He gave us what we needed and have been missing.

I like it...A LOT!

Maybe if more of our guys played with that kind of passion and energy, we wouldn't be losing games to teams with the nickname Kangaroo

Will does have a little swagger. I think it's fantastic.

Congrats to WE and BU on the win. Will played very well in his first start in his BU career. I thought Will's numbers could have been even better had it not been for him picking up a couple fouls that forced him to the bench for some time in the 1st half. I just hope we, as fans, realize that he may not do this everytime out this year, and put some unrealistic expectations on Will. That being said, great job by Will, and I look forward to seeing him play more minutes this year and for him to keep improving during his sophomore campaign.

I like many other posters on here, cannot understand why BU's guards refuse to make an entry pass to the post. BU had numerous opportunities to get Will the ball on the block and just didn't do it. Sam Singh did get the ball 2-3 times on an entry pass, but didn't come away with a bucket.

I also would love to see Will on the floor with another big. Play will at the 4 a little bit, he certainly has the athleticism, ball-handling, and shooting touch to step away from the bucket and still be effective while having DC, AT or SS under the hoop.

Good post Dubl R 1. I agree with you. He's going to be up and down quite a bit I think. I do think he showed that his potential is real, and I expect a good contribution for the season. That being said, I think we'll need all of our post players including DC before the year is done. Hope AT see some minutes tonight.

Totally playing devil's advocate here.

I didn't see WE play, all I know is that his performance warranted a separate thread post...which is a pretty big deal.
I can only assume he was huge in the game.

but didn't we sorta do this same thing once DC "came out of his shell" for a game or two?

we all said how great it was to have a legit big man

but he's been "tanking" for lack of a better term

I'm just saying, I'm hesitant to jump on teh WE bandwagon, as he has had 1 game to prove himself and had 3 that he didn't produce too much
