Will Franklin signs with Romanian pro team

Will Franklin, who had a successful season last year playing in Tunisia, has become the first former Brave to sign with a pro team for 2011-2012. He just signed with CSM ORADEA of the Romanian Division A pro league. Last year they finished in 6th place with a 17-13 record in the top pro Romanian league.
The team is based in Oradea, Romania.

Low end teams pay their American players $50,000 to $70,000 per season, while better teams in better leagues pay far more. The teams that are signing NBA stars like Deron Williams are paying seven figures. Anthony Parker reportedly made millions per year for Maccabi Tel Aviv since he was the team's star and Maccabi was one of the top Euro teams. Plus, most living expenses are paid such as apartment, transportation and meals. Teams usually include expenses for a couple trips back home to the US for each player per season, too.
The Romanian league is probably a step above Tunisia, where Will played last season, but it is still near the low end of pro ball in Europe.

Actually - playing in Romania or anywhere in Europe is a BIG step up from the extreme obscurity of playing in Tunisia where virtualy NO coverage exists and they play in empty gyms...
Also in Romania Will Franklin will at least have a chance to also play in some decent playoffs and even possibly a chance to play interleague (EuroCup) games.

Other familiar players who are currently playing in Romania include Wichita State's Clevin Hannah, Missouri State's Deven Mitchell, SLU's Tommie Liddell, Levar Seals, and Rashard Griffith.

An unfortunate injury has struck Bradley's Will Franklin... #12 in above picture...

just prior to the start of his 2011-2012 season with CSM Oradea in Romania, Will tore ligaments in his right knee
and underwent surgery - ending his chances of playing this season.
