Northwestern, hands down. Last night, the Wildcats almost lost at home to Division III Wheaton, winning 41-39. Wheaton led 18-16 at the half.

Yet Northwestern has a double-digit win over DePaul. I'd say Chicago St, NIU, EIU, or WIU probably take the cake as far as worst in Illinois.

squirrel said:I look for them to make some noise in San Juan. If they win against Tn Tech, they'll likely get a crack at Vanderbilt and then either a no more than 1 or 2 loss Virginia or Central Florida squad.
If they do, the Wildcats are a solid NIT team. Go figure.

You HAVE GOT to be kidding. You even used the word 'solid' describing their potential for an NIT bid. That would suggest they are a bubble NCAA team.
Ok, I think they can get past TennTech. (note: I said CAN) Then, who is to say Vandy is gonna be a quality enough win to put them solidly in the NIT. But if they win that one, you then think just a 'crack at' a 1-2 loss Virginia or C Florida deserves a spot amongst 97 teams playing in March. (you didn't say a win, you said a 'crack at'. But even with a win, I am not convinced it makes them a 'solid' NIT team - they could go 0-fer in the B10, but hey, they won the San Juan so give 'em an NIT bid.)
I'm gonna follow this.
Please tell me how you like your crow.
(and just in case, I prefer mine charred from the grill 8) )
squirrel said:They are 6-2 now (and just 8 points from perfect). I predict at least 2-1 in San Juan. That puts them at 8-3.
They then have Loyola (MD) and Northwestern St at home, to put them at 10-3. They also have a late season non-con against Texas-Pan Am, which I am counting as a win.
I see B10 results like this:
W @ PSU
W vs. Mich
L @ MSU
L vs. Wisky
L @ OSU
W @ Minn
L vs. OSU
W vs. Minn
L @ Wisky
L vs. Illinois
W vs. PSU
W @ Iowa
L @ Illinois
L vs. Purdue
W vs. Indiana
L @ Purdue (7-9 in B10 play)
10-3 + 8-9 = 18-12

First of all, your B10 record for them should be 7-9, not 8-9. So 17-12.

Remember, they play the Princeton style offense, which won't "wow" anybody and will keep both teams in most games.
Second, Wheaton kids just finished up finals on Wednesday and about 1000 Wheaton (NU has been out all week) fans were in attendance and loud making it almost like a home game for them.

Northwestern is a terrible basketball team devoid of any real talent. They'll finish in the cellar in the Big Ten, and will not be in the postseason. Book it.

I guess I just disagree. Won't be the first or last time. While they haven't been flashy, they have been doing exactly what the Princeton system is designed to do: Give inferior teams an opportunity to win every game. Carmody finally has guys who will buy into it. Every roster he's had to this point has had key players who simply can't figure it out or get frustrated by it's lethargy.
It is a bold prediction, but I will stand by it.

This team is young, but the confidence is starting to grow.
Really I thought Depaul was in the Big East?squirrel said:The worst team in the state with the worst offense, talent, and defense in the state just beat Utah 77-44 to finish 2-1 in San Juan and improve to 8-3 on the year. The Wildcats should head into Big Ten play 10-3.
