Wow- BU loses 68-65

??? MK was on fire, but on defense he still seems lost and perhaps this is why he never made it back into the game and I can understand and agree with that. However, he wasn??™t the only one lost on defense last night. Loyola made numerous entry passes into the post just a couple feet from the basket and had clear lanes to the basket all night long.
I completely agree, but let's just go BIG because we have a few players that are......."BIG".

??? I don??™t think we can blame all this on Jim. The players have to be held accountable for the some of the ridiculous turnovers in the second half.

I also agree that the entire team/staff shares the blame in this loss. I certainly hope the coaching staff didn't tell CR to foul on two of Loyola's last possessions!

We went 16-12 after "bottoming out" at UWM last year...is that really anything to hang our hats on? Is a 5 game stretch of good basketball enough to label a season as a success? I sure hope not.
We won 5 games in a row after UWM...and then went 11-12 to finish the year from that point on...
Doesn't exactly sound like a banner year to me...but maybe I just expect too much.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Doubt BU would have done any better against a team that KILLED them inside last night if BU went SMALLl....From what little I saw last night on the Internet stream of the game before I got too physically ill to keep watching, BU "SMALL" players didn't look much better than BU "BIG" players.

BU Loses

BU Loses

Nice try changing the subject, but the subject was last night's game.
If we are going to talk about the last 9 years, Bradley hasn't played this way either. Note that Bradley's record is way better than ISU's over the last 9 years, they have almost the same number of wins as Creighton.
Also, ISU has not played in the NCAA since 1998, and neither of them has won an NCAA game since Jim Les has been coaching at Bradley. And needless to say, neither has played in the Sweet 16.
So if we are going to play the game where we find things about past years to complain about, I'll be happy to provide some of the successes of these past years, too.

#!, You brought ISU and Creighton into the subjectin your previous post, not I.
#2 In almost 9 years, Jim Les has has 6 good weeks.
We went to N. IA and all of a sudden J.J. Tuai figured out how to shoot.
As a result teams had to start guarding him. This kept teams from doubling down and created more opportunities for the rest of the team mainly OB and Summerville.
2006 will soon be a distant memory. what remains is we have never finished higher that 4th in The Valley during JL's tenure!
#3. We just blew any chance of getting an at large bid. Teams in a conference with an SOS in the 20's and losses to Loyola an average Horizon league team, DO NOT get an at large bid.
#4. I thought our loss to a pretty decent W. Car. would be negated by a win at Iowa St. Forgeddaboutit.
#5. "More wins" Only because we have played in those alphabetic meaningless post season tournaments.
#6 Even you must be sick of playing at 2:30 on Friday.
My friend dubs Les , 2:30 Jimmy!

This was not an at-large team before last night's game. Last night's loss doesn't change anything.
You are the one who tried to twist around the meaning of what I posted, not me.

I will continue to support the team. Sorry if that bothers or offends anyone. Fans have a lot of choices- they can stop watching and stop going to games. Or they can complain, like they'll always do.

You know Coach, sometimes change is good.
If Henry Ford liked Horses we would not have cars.
If someguy named Bell liked The Telegraph, we would not have phones. If Franklin liked candles we would not have electricity.
If Al Gore liked writing letters, we would not have The Internet.
No I will not stop going to Vegas and St. Louis, nor wherever they are next year. I will not mail Tornado my 4 Season tix, BUT
Change can be good!

Some fans even decided much earlier in the season they would rather watch the Bears on tv than go to the Bradley game.

Did any else notice Taylor Brown was holding his left arm funny during any deadball. He did have his left wrist wrapped. In the second half Loyola backed off him outside of 15 feet like they knew he would not shoot. I did notice him limping in the second half also. This was after is fall on his back. I did not notice if there was a limp in the first half. He sure did not look 100%.

I didn't think this was an at-large team even after the Illinois win. First there are about eight other "mid-majors" that have even better credentials than us that would probably grab those last spots long before we got one. Gonzaga, Butler, Portland, San Diego, Xavier, Northern Iowa, UNLV, BYU, and possibly Temple and Dayton all have played even tougher schedules than us, and many have more than one quality win. So our at-large chances were still slim even after the Illinois win anyway.

Second, we most likely would have had to win the Valley regular season title to stay on that at-large list. Had we beaten OSU and BYU, second place probably would have been enough. So I agree that I think many people were placing too much value on one great win, which is something that cannot be taken away from us. And the Illini fanbase certainly won't live that game down for a long time anyway! :D

Now these last two losses knocked any minute chance we would have had for an at-large bid out the window anyway which may even turn out to be a mixed blessing in that we have time to correct mistakes and we can concentrate on trying to win as many Valley games as we can. And we can do this because I still don't think the Illinois win would have been enough to warrant an at-large bid anyway.

just win the next game, then the bandwagon will get full again

Bandwagon fans aren't whats importaint to this or ANY program. Every program has a few....its the nature of sports.

The diehards are what a program lives off of...... and the diehards are getting restless.

Sure fans will be happy if we win the next game. They will be happy for winning THAT particular game but if we finish 5,6,7 in the Valley and are one-n-done in the Tourney most diehard fans won't be happy.

This isn't about individual games.....its about where the program has been and where its headed under the current regime.

We hoover at mediocrity and so far this year we are trending downward. Thats NOT acceptable to many of the diehards.

The way I see it... we are playing for our seeding in the NCAA Tourney. We are going to win the MVC Tourney - it's that simple. So if we had won the last 2 games, maybe we'd be looking at an 8 or 9 seed. But since we've lost those two games at home, we've dropped to maybe an 11 or 12 seed. I think it'll be easier to get to the Sweet 16 as an 11 or 12 seed than an 8 or 9. ;)

Plus, I we are improving our RPI. Since Road wins are weighted, and opponent records are a big part of RPI, we want our opponents to win as many road games as possible;)

Coach, I appreciate all you do for this board, but there is no bigger BU fan than myself. I have supported the Braves through many a bad season. Didn't even take a game off to watch the Packers. If IMO I have a reason to complain I will. I would hope that you and others would stop making yourself out to be bigger and better Braves fans than the ones who signed up for this board because they thought they could discuss Bradley basketball. Again thanks for all you do.

I have never thought or suggested that I am "making myself out to be bigger and better Braves fan than the ones who signed up for this board". That's ridiculous and a fabrication.

But I see a pattern that is irrational sometimes. Some fans apparently think it's OK to direct their anger after a loss at another poster who doesn't seem to share their anguish. Notice how many posts start with Coach... or tornado... then lead into some rant against those of us who don't buy into the sinking ship theory. If posters are angry- state what you are angry about, not direct the anger at another poster. This violates our rules, and can lead to threads that become nothing more than back-and-forth bickering.
We will be more aggressive deleting such posts- see the 6th rule listed

For one last time, people are free to post their opinions, as long as they don't cross the line or violate the rules of this board. But do not direct anger or animosity toward another poster just because he doesn't agree with your opinion.

that's OK coach, I have already accepted that I am to blame for the last couple losses...
..but then doesn't that argument also entitle me to hang the Sweet Sixteen banner in my living room?
