WOW...They even hate Paul Herzog

On the other board....They have lowered themselves to criticizing the Bradley announcer. Whats next the janitors?

Quotes....Paul had made a fool of himself.

Missing foul calls, stupid statements about "Bradley Leaaaaaaaaaaaads" missed travels, saying the opposing team had been assessed multiple warnings on touching the ball out of bounds etc.

I doubt it will be heard, but its time to grow up and act professional.

Another.....He is a god awful homer. SIU has one too.

Another....You are not the show. Let the officials make the calls Paul can then announce them. He is not the official. He is not the scorer. He should not give assists on missed baskets.

Why does anyone care what is said on the "other board?"

I always think that if someone has a problem with something go to the source about your problem or disagreement instead of going to a third party to do so.

I read the thread and didn't find anything wrong with it. Paul was wrong in announcing Bradley had lost the game and he does go over the top sometimes. That's not new news.

not many people do, but this is a bit below the belt for a guy who's widely, widely known as one of the very best in his profession, who donates 100% of his time and has never been paid.
Even the folks who run March Madness insist on Paul doing their PA job, he is the best, but obviously some critics think they can do better and find a some nit-picky thing to dwell on.
Small minds think small thoughts.

Paul has been very loyal to Bradley. He has always done a great job. But I don't know if he is known as one of the best. I don't mean that in a derogatory way but who actually does these "rankings"?

Personally, I'm not a fan of PA announcers in general or of laser light show introductions, piped in music, etc. That isn't a shot to Paul or anyone. This happens now throughout sports and college hoops in particular. I'm old school in that regard.

You are right--small minds think small thoughts. If we banned every small minded though on message boards there wouldn't be any threads left.

by rule on this board we do not allow that type of criticism and attack on Bradley players, coaches, personnel, or other affiliated people....
it is in the rules and just as one would do while visiting in another person's home, we ask that visitors follow the rules.

Im lost here. No one criticized anyone in this thread did they?

It would be great if all threads stayed away from attacking players, coaches, personnel, etc. from all of college basketball (and not just Bradley) but maybe its too much to ask.

All I asked was why would someone care what goes on an a different message board? No skin off my back. What Paul Herzog says or does has little impact on the outcome of games.

It seems to me if someone is critizing our PA announcer that must mean he's doing a great job because he's getting under their skin. Keep it LOUD and Proud Paul.

I don't recall hearing him say Bradley lost the game. I thought he started to give the final score and that was as far as he got.

You are correct. That was my mistake. Saying the final score and saying someone lost is not, in theory, the same thing.

Tornado--I wouldn't call these things "attacks". That seems harsh but we all use our own words I guess.

I didn't even think he said the final score. I thought he said "final score......" and that was it. For people to say Paul Herzog announced Bradley had lost the game or even gave the final score before the game was over is on the same level, in my opinion, as saying Bradley didn't deserve to win the game.

I head "final score" as well. Looks as if some people have too much time on their hands. I had a good view of Robert's shot and to be honest, I thought that the shot was going to be short when Robert's released the ball.

Dude--we are posting on a Bradley message board in midafternoon on a Wednesday. Of course we have too much time on our hands :)

For those that say they are way off base on the other board...I would say the title of this thread is way off base as well

Heck half of what is on here seems to be critical of somebody in some way. It's some people's opinions(many who I didn't agree with btw) that's all

I don't get it. Message boards are for the posting of opinions, right? I still post on the PJS board. I read that thread, I didn't really see any attacks. I read peoples opinions of the kind of job that Mr. Herzog does announcing games. I did not read anyone attack him as a person. He is doing a very public job and with that comes criticism. If we can only criticize what we have a working knowledge of....then this board might as well shut down.

Stop being so rational!

Now why would you post something so sensible and rational....goodness. :)

Interesting.

There is a definite distinction between constructive criticism and bashing and flaming.

Sounds like people are differing on which side that thread falls on more than anything.

To me, it sorta falls in between. How's that for an answer. :)
