Yankees to unveil ambidextrous pitcher today

the NFHS rules that cover all of high school baseball (and much of youth baseball) differ,
and require any ambidextrous pitcher to declare which arm he's pitching with then the batter (if a switch hitter) can choose which side to hit from, then
the pitcher has to remain pitching from that side until the batter's turn is complete
 
My senior year of high school, I went to Arizona for this Pro Scout Baseball Camp and a guy on my team there pitched one day with one arm and the next day with the next arm. I've never seen anything like it. He told me that he had to have surgery on his right elbow and that forced him to learn how to throw with his left. Now that the elbow has healed, he throws equally has hard with both arms along with having pretty good control. Haven't heard from him since though so I'm not sure where he went to college or what not but I'm betting there are quite a few players out there that have this capability.
 
Some might recall the two different movies that were made about the 1957 Little League World Series...in which a team from Monterrey, Mexico went all the way, and their best pitcher was Angel Macias..who threw a perfect game — the only one in Little League World Series championship history.

Macias was an ambidextrous pitcher who was portrayed in the 2009 movie by Jake T. Austin.

Pat Venditte, the MLB pitcher who can throw equally well right handed AND Left handed...an ambidextrous switch-pitcher...

I actually had the opportunity to watch him as he demonstrated his talent for the kids at the camp...
He has a glove that can be switched from right to left hands...and literally has the ability to throw MAJOR LEAGUE FASTBALLS, curves, & sliders equally well with both arms..
he can hit the mid-90's and has a better curve left handed!
He just got traded and is now with the Toronto Bluejays, but while he was in Oakland, he became good frends with Ben Zobrist - who was also at the camp and Venditte's friendship with Ben was the reason he came to our area just to VOLUNTEER and do this camp along with Ben, Zach McAllister and a dozen other major & minor league players as well as a few local area high school baseball coaches.

Ambidextrous Pat Venditte actually pitched in 26 games for the Oakland Athletics last season. He alternated pitching righty to right handed batters and pitched lefty to left handed batters. He had some control problems (12 walks in 28 innings) that lead to a 4.40 ERA (not good for a relief pitcher). But he only gave up 22 hits in 28 innings. He is 30 years old, having spent almost 8 years in the minor leagues before getting a chance with the A's last year.
