Zach

I'm not 100% sure but it looked like he was in JL's doghouse big time...I thought he started out the game playing OK. My guess is JL was disappointed in Zachs defense.

ZA made a really wild pass @ about 11 minute mark and road the bench till OT? :? I thought he sat too-long....at one point DA was playing center?

Yeah, I was screaming for Zach to get back into the game, because Salley was just giving up sooo much inside. Zach was out for quite some time.

WOW, I like Salley so maybe I am biased but Zach was disgusting tonight defensively, the sole reason he wasn't playing, salley was by no means solid, thats why we had 5 guards at times. But Zach defense was not existent. Heck, Ruff was more of an inside presence tonight. to be honest it really kinda stinks, for everything Zach has done for this team to go out on a game like that?? Hey at least he has been practicing free throws. Here's to Zach coming back big and bringin home a W from Mississippi.

If your local turn on the WEEK news @ 10..........they just showed ZA's monster dunk on the missed shot............WOW! :-o

I saw Chuck B talking to him outside the huddle and Zach just kept shaking his head no right after the turnover. The only time he went back in after that was the tip to start overtime and then came right back out. I did notice he had white tape on his left thumb, he looked really bad the one time he had to handle the ball when he was in.

As much as I like Zach and Matt, I think they really kill us at times, with dumb shots and fouls. They made their free throws tonight though.

Agreed, on both points, but Salley was messing up, and I wanted Les to change it up a bit, if only for a little while. I just get tired of Salley trying to do stuff that Ruff or Will do under the basket. Salley needs to DUNK that S*** like Zach does.

Anyway, Zach, and as a team, we really hit our free throws tonight. Makes me wonder if Les made em practice FT alot after the MVC tourny. Great win tonight, can't wait for saturday!

Anyone know why Zach didn't see much pt late in the game?

JL from post-game press conference:

"Just other guys playing and making plays. We're a team. It's not about getting a guy a certain amount of minutes. It's about doing what we have to do and individuals stepping up and doing what they have to do. I thought Matt [Salley] did a great job. We went a couple minutes and went small and tried to extend that zone even more, and all those worked out OK."

Credit to Jim for taking the high road, but I don't buy it that there was nothing to him sitting for so long. Personally, I don't think it was the right thing to do UNLESS Zach said something or did something disrespectful to the coach or staff. I didn't witness anything, so I don't know. If nothing was said and it was just for poor play, I think it was a poor way to handle a kid in his last ever game on his home floor. If something was said, then I support the decision to bench him. Either way, I expect this to be ironed out and I expect a big game on Saturday from ZA.

I disagree, I love Zach but he was not playing well, especially defensively. JL's responsibility is to the team not to a single player. If you don't think Les handle ZA well think about where Zach we be without him... right now he is the dream of about every girl on campus and has been part of something truly special, and earned the admiration and respect of BU fans everywhere. Les made the right call, that game wasn't about a send off for seniors, it was about winning. Les did what he had to do to make that happen.

Zach will go back to regular PT against MS and, IMO, probably have a pretty big game, but last night he was just on an off-night, though was very happy to see him nail those FT's!!

I have to agree...save for the dream date part  .

I wanted JL to tear into ZA on his lazy no look pass but JL let CB speak with him ands alls ZA was doing was shaking his head. I'm not worried about ZA one bit. He's a man and will bounce back.

I trust the staff. We need ZA Sat. and he WILL show up ready to play....BOOK IT.
