Zek Montgomery is Back!

It sounds like Zek left without any commitment , I was hoping he wanted to play here again but it sounds like he wants more money. If that is true then we need to move on and find a better player.

It was Barry Sumpter from Lovejoy, IL. He was a 6' 11 All-American forward/center (class of 1982 or 83) that Bradley was expected to get a commitment from. Sumpter changed his mind at the last minute and committed to Loui$ville. He played for Louisville two years before flunking out, eventually transferring to Austin Peay. Hard to believe Tony B. and Dick V. are both gone. Dave Snell could tell you the details. I was a senior at the time.

Can we give a shout to Coach Wardle? I mean, everyone seems to be losing players left and right and to be able to get Zek back and also convince Duke and Darius to stay is really a testament to who he is as a coach and a mentor. For all those who whine about his rotations or some of his quirks, he's really established one of the most stable programs in the Valley.

Agree on both counts. I had given up too, and yes ... this probably helps make them league favorite next season. Now they need to cement that with 2 or 3 more solid gets.
 
Man, I thought this was a broken deal and I had already resigned myself to the fact he wasn’t returning. This is outstanding! I am VERY excited for our season now!

Concur. Brian has done a wonderful job. And while some of the departures have been hard (Roberts, Mast, Hickman), Brian has done a fantastic job and it is really highlighted this year with how many programs in the MVC have been absolutely gutted.

Super excited to see him come back for another year.

Also makes me a little sad thinking about this season (not that is wasn't great, we had a really good year). If we had just one more good guard (Zek) I think we could have won the conference.
 
A big thanks to HOTBrave, and the NIL people. They worked hard to get a deal made that was satisfactory to Zek and to the coaching staff.
Again I will encourage every Bradley fan to help support the Home of the Brave NIL organization, without which Bradley would have lost a lot more players and would not have been able to land the transfers they have, or the transfers yet to come.

I am with you because everything I heard sounded like he would not be back, great to get him as he was a good player for Bradley.
 
No doubt it is a good look that someone who left for greener pastures is returning home to Bradley, the land of lush green pastures.

Also- Zek is a proven performer who can really help our team.

Right! Is it true he entered the portal? Seems like we had a reversal from having a dearth of guards to a dearth of bigs. Concerned with that, but if Rienk entered the portal, the logical reason would be to come home since he’s already at a successful power conference school that made the tourney. Please tell me there’s a serious chance this could happen!

The pieces are coming together and this team could be the best in the Wardle era.

TOTALLY! Zek has more athleticism, length, and defensive presence. I loved his game the first 2 seasons and I hope the best is yet to come!
Wish Hick didn't decide to leave, but I think we're gonna be just fine.
