Lefty--I love your 3 posts on the first page of this thread. But I disagree with one of them...

No way message board pressure causes the paper or media to do anything. We need to remember that us measly posters, though passionate, make up probably .005% of the populace. While we like to think of ourselves as representative, we're not and the media realizes that.

That said, we're likely the ones who buy a paper because of this kind of drama.

And on the point of the BOT knowing that potential President Glasser had of high turnover of administrators was well known. But many of those people also went to bigger and better things, as well.

She had near unanimous support of the BOT and selection committee (with one exception) and retains yet unanimous support from the Board of Trustees.

Great post Southpaw. While the message board crowd can be loud, it isnt very representative in the grand scheme of things.

For now... I have seen a similar situation at another college.. When opinions change, they change quickly....
        Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I should clarify.....sometimes it has been mentioned here that nothing was ever printed until it came out on the message board....I really wasn't implying that it was true as much as some saying it has been the case

KW is always on top of everything else that is negative for BU, especially since Jim Les was hired, why not now.

He was in Texas for his son's graduation. He made a short mention of the KK-JG situation on his blog.

ADD: However, that's not to say that he would've written something had he not been gone. Some people earlier in the thread made note of a couple possibilities — timing (late in the week) and hesitancy of sources to go on the record about things. Perhaps the PJS is working on something. Perhaps it's not. I guess we'll wait and see.

I knew mentioning KW would bring you out. If this has been waiting to happen as some posters say, I'm sure KW and his staff knew about it.

It "brought me out" because I could answer your question. Maybe KW or other people on the PJS staff had an idea KK wouldn't be back, but it's silly to write an at-length article ahead of time on something that may or may not happen. How do you interview someone for a story like that? ("Hey, can I quote you on KK and JG's relationship for a story we'll run in case KK leaves?") Except for obituaries, it's not an easy or sensible thing to do. Wait until something happens, and if it does happen then you can go about your business.

I think the problem with the writing of an article is exactly that they would have no sources, especially that would have gone on record.

And the funny thing is, that most of the people on this board would then have been complaining that what was being written was hearsay, as it would have been.

                      like that's ever stopped anyone?
who was the source of the ligature marks?
who was the source of Suggs' confidential and federally protected drug test result??
who was the source for the erroneous reports of Bruce Weber's "N"-word use or Manual Cass' commitment to BU?

I am not getting in a tit-for-tat here....

                        But..

While you and I both knew the status of KK the Journal star isnt going to take our words for it.

who was going to talk even off the record on it.

KK wasn't going to do it.
VHB wasnt going to do it
JG wasn't going to do it.

They can take anonymous sources if someone will talk.

Its the same issue as here. Tornado, maybe you and I are guilty here too. We both knew the result and chose not to say anything.

                          don't ask, don't tell...
nobody asked for my thoughts........but I would never want to hurt KK's chances to get a highly desirable "step up" ...which he now has....!

This is BS. You don't need to get a quote from the persons involved to get a story.
There is a story here, and someone in the local media appears to simply be afraid to tell it, or they are just incompetant.
Every newspaper reporter in the business should know how to dig up facts to put together an accurate story. There are plenty of people around town and around Bradley who know what is going on.

In 1 minute I was able to dig up some stuff off the internet that has an interesting parallel to what is happening at Bradley.
Check out this story from a couple weeks ago about how much things have improved since their last president left. Note the 3rd-6th paragraphs. Some things never change.

However, I would bet there are people at EKU who would be happy to talk now that she's gone. Too bad nobody in the local media has bothered to do it.

I have heard reports of how she essentially ran Travis Ford out of town at Eastern Kentucky, then sued him to repay some of the salary he had been given under his contract. Yes, he got the job at UMass, but he was encouraged to leave, and no effort was made to try to retain him at EKU, despite being a basketball icon in Kentucky, and being a successful coach at EKU (he got them into the NCAA tournament for the first time in 26 years).

Again, it is an interesting parallel to what's happening here.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

Part of me doesn't care so I hesitate even offering my opinion but.......I realize people love a good story and can't resist looking at a traffic accident but is this REALLY that big of a deal? SURE it is to those involved but, and I'm not taking sides or defending her, isn't JG the President know? Isn't it "her" University now....and by hers I mean she's responsible for what happens under her watch.

And isn't it her "right" and "duty" to have people in place that reflect her beliefs, style and approach to all things BU?

Again NOT saying I agree with how she's running things....truth be told I have NO idea but there are mechanisms in place that will or should not let her run the place into the ground.

So she's making some changes....no great surprises at least to me.

Laymans terms....new bosses come into places all the time and changes are inevitable.

Perhaps I'm being to simplistic but is all this drama really necassary...I guess it is to some people. Not being critical of others I just don't get it.
