I also could care less about what is happening at other schools as i have always believed that you only worry about what is happening in your own program. I also believe in following the rules and staying out of trouble but sometimes things happen that you just can't control, I believe Taylor was pushed too far by this other person to the point it turned into a simple fight.
It didn"t happen in some bar or nightclub and it was not such a big deal that it could not have been handled in house, I know BU has had a few problems the last few years but every case is different and giving him 2 games just seems way out of line , he is being punished for other guys mistakes of the past and that isn"t fair to him or the team.

Everyone knew about the trouble TB got into last September. It was announced that he would be punished, but for some reason, not when he would be punished. IMO, to wait until the night of the game with one of the toughest opening night opponents in Bradley history to announce his punishment was wrong.
I'm sure the team has known this for a quite a while. That is the important thing. Not announcing the suspension made BYU gameplan for TB, not a 4 guard. JL made the best of the suspensions from a gaming perspective.

I guess I'm being selfish because of all the hype on this board for the past 6 months and what a big opportunity to play a team like BYU on opening night. Like I said earlier TB is not a pre-season All-American. He averaged 3 points a game last season. I'm sure BYU is coached well enough to adjust to a team missing one player.

very flattering to tb and the braves if byu had to change because of the suspension. some teams just do what they do best and regardless of who they are playing. sounds like we threw them off a bit.

every team views film and prepares for the team they expect to be playing...
they spend time preparing and planning based on who the other team has, so a sudden change in lineup can throw a team off.

Exactly. See Bill Bellichick's injury reports for reference, and he's done alright (cheater or not).

I still say its JL's team and this is how he chooses to do his business WHATEVER the reason. Agree...disagree but its his team. PERIOD.

My knowing or NOT knowing TB was out had NO bearing on anything.... I preapred for this game like I always do.

Really? I tried a new brew this time. Local brewery here has this great beer called Old Monkeyshine, 7.7 abv, it was glorious...

There isn't a bigger Jim Les fan than myself. I hope he stays for 20 more years. But I think the majority of fans were disappointed to find out at the last minute that TB wouldn't be playing against such a quality opponent. If you weren't you much have started preparing a little early and didn't care, just happy to see a BU game. Remember that at the games, it's JL's team.

I see a little in game prep without a player but not that much. I would think a team prepares for most all players in a rotation. If he doesn't play then they have prepared for the rest in the rotation...it's not like we have played several games this year and established any kind of pattern whatsoever....

Most on this board know the players extremely well and still don't know who exactly is going to start where yet....Being the first game of the year I doubt BYU would have prepared much differently at all regarding TB...

on the other hand you have to expect the fan base to wonder what's going on when this happens as a surprise.

I do see some difference in the conference season when you estableshed patterns and teams know each other so well.

Its just my personal feelings Chico....wether I knew TB was playing or not and when I knew about it really made NO difference in anything about how I "approached" the game for lack of a better word.

It was a BU game...I was going to watch it and root for the Braves. I had heard rumors he was going to mis the game about an hour prior to the game. OK...so he's out....I'm still going to be the same fan. Loud and proud.

IOW.....I DIDN'T know and I didn't do anything different then had I known.

I said the same thing in another thread....while it probably didn't make much difference to BYU I think ISU or another Valley team, that knows us and TB better, is another story.

JL's just being consistent so that when the Valley season is here he's doing the same thing he did all non-con.

Agreed completely. That's why I'm ok with JL's decision, help the team, even if the advantage is miniscule, and the fans will OK.
