AT suspended

Heard about this on Monday and hope this settles things.
AT needs to focus on the team, it's his last chance.

I think AT has had his chances. I sure hope he is working toward graduating, because I get the feeling if this wasn't a new staff he'd be done.

Hope AT has learned from whatever he did and moves on to better things. That being said, AT is in his last year of eligibility and he should know better by now.

I don't mind one final chance for AT under the new coaching staff. But it sounds like he's on real thin ice now. This now REALLY is his final chance!

I will be very happy for him if he completes his work towards his degree, which I have always said is much more important in life than how well he played basketball. But at the same time it would be a real shame if he wasted his last chance to contribute a lot to the team. Let's hope this is the wakeup call he needs.

As I've said before, we really don't know what these suspensions are for. Do we? It could be for something as minor as oversleeping for a practice or a class. I know I was guilty of that (and worse) during my college days. I'm choosing to withhold judgement..... for now. Now, if it happens again........

DITTO, on the above. This s--t gets old with several of these guys. It's time to cut bait. I just don't get it with a few people on this team. I better shut the hell up b4 I say something on here that needs to be said but shouldn't.Nate your table is waiting.

Well for those who blamed Les for disciplinary issues during his tenure (not directed towards you wily coyote, just a general statement), I think this really shows that in most cases it is the players who need to take ultimate responsibility for their actions. I think this also shows it doesn't matter who the coach is, at least in most cases.

I agree, but could you imagine the uproar from certain people if JL was still the coach and this happened? :-o

PEORIA, Ill. - Anthony Thompson, a fifth-year senior center on the Bradley men's basketball team, has been suspended indefinitely by head coach Geno Ford for a violation of team rules.

"The opportunity to represent Bradley University as a student-athlete is a privilege and our players are expected to abide by certain standards," said Ford. "I am disappointed that Anthony has not lived up to those standards, but we will continue to support him as he works through this situation."

Thompson will not play in Tuesday's exhibition opener versus Wisconsin-Parkside and his availability will continue to be evaluated by the coaching staff. The 6-foot-10 center has played in 52 games during his career at Bradley, averaging 1.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.5 blocked shots per game.

The Braves will face outside competition for the first time when they host NCAA Division II Wisconsin-Parkside Tuesday (7 p.m.) at Renaissance Coliseum. Tickets for Tuesday's game, which is not part of the Carver Arena season-ticket plan, are currently on sale at the Renaissance Coliseum Box Office and are $10 for the general public, $5 for Bradley University faculty and staff and $1 for Bradley University students.

Bradley will host NCAA Division III College of Wooster in a second exhibition game Nov. 8 at Carver Arena before opening the regular-season Nov. 13 versus UMKC. Carver Arena season tickets will be available for pickup Monday in the Nick and Nancy Owens Atrium at Renaissance Coliseum and all regular-season, single-game tickets will go on sale Nov. 7. Tickets for the Nov. 8 exhibition game versus Wooster will go on sale Monday and Carver Arena season-ticket holders also may begin purchasing tickets Monday to the Nov. 16 game versus Southeast Missouri State game at Renaissance Coliseum.

Its something that puts Sticks on VERY thin ice. Not sure it should be posted on here yet though.

...then I would be disappointed in a one game suspension of a silly exhibition game..

Correction- AT's suspension is an "indefinite suspension"

Seriously? You couldn't imagine the uproar if these things were currently happening under JL?

No doubt some would twist it to make JL look bad. These things typically CAN NOT be blamed on the coach. However, it's up to the coach to respond in a measured manner. I think JL did.... and, it now appears, Geno did as well. :(
