Bradley University Vice President is candidate for top spot

Dr. Glassman obviously hopes to get a position as a college President and has put him name in several other places,
with Glassman one of the top candidates for EIU & the decision to be made soon there...
but I wonder if he has put his name into consideration for the College Presidency opening that's closest to where he currently is. Wouldn't you think he'd be a leading candidate if he wants the job?
Or could the opening at Bradley hurt his chances at EIU - as the EIU people ponder whether they should make a decision NOW only to have Glassman pursue the Bradley opening over the summer after Dr. Glasser steps down.

I get the impression he wants out of Private Universities.

interesting
Dr. Glassman has done archaeological excavations of the Mayan pyramids..and has helped in the identification of the remains of a famous murder victim.
I have to admit I'd love to hear him talk some time on these topics..
Editor’s Note: This is the third in a series of articles profiling each of the four finalists in the search for Eastern’s next president. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in anthropology, David Glassman, one of the four presidential finalists, joined an archaeological team down in Mexico. While he was there, Glassman found himself in a...

Yet another top Bradley administrator is looking to move on to another spot...
Darrell Radson, Ph.D., (currently works as Dean of the Foster College of Business at Bradley University) is seeking position of Provost at Saint Louis University.
An open forum for the third provost candidate, Darrell Radson, Ph.D., was held in the BSC on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Members of the Saint Louis University community including faculty, students and staff questioned Radson on a variety of topics, including diversity, adjunct faculty and strategic planning. Radson began the forum with a general overview of...

Bradley Provost David Glassman named EIU President
Bradley Provost David Glassman got the Eastern Illinois President job.
Congratulations to Dr. Glassman.

Good for him--he seems to be a very smart gentleman--I wish him success at EIU. He obviously has seen how bad things have been here under Glasser's regime--and with all of the financial issues looming and fallout--he did not want to be a part of it anymore--and I do not not blame him. It will get worse before it gets better--and bringing in new fresh faces/ideas is the best way to begin the rebuilding process IMO.Bradley football--undefeated again this year

Bradley's 20 member Board of Trustees is the highest governing body at Bradley.
However - the day to day operation of the entire University depends on the President and her cabinet....the highest executive body at Bradley...
the President & the seven member cabinet - are now missing THREE members, as Dr. Glasser, Dr. Cross, and Dr. Glassman are all current members of this body that operated right under the direction of the Board.
Gary Anna is also on the Cabinet - and I have also heard some rumbles of perhaps even more departures.
One member of the Cabinet, Jake Heuser, is at every Bradley game and is very engaged with fans & donors -

a new story by WEEK.com has a remarkably odd sounding quote from Councilman Chuck Grayeb..
the story is about the impact all the personnel changes at Bradley might have, and Grayeb says...
Decisions at Bradley University effect the entire city
The decisions Bradley makes about its key leaders has an impact on its future. And that impact extends far beyond this campus.
"They're a leading employer, they do a lot to help our economy, if you subtract
Bradley you have a huge negative impact on Peoria's economy; nevermind all
of the other aspects that can't even be quantified by dollars," said 2nd District
City Councilman, Chuck Grayeb."
What?? "If you subtract Bradley..." ???
why is he comparing anything to a Peoria with Bradley completely "subtracted" out of the entire equation?
Who ever suggested that Bradley would ever be "subtracted" or completely gone from Peoria?
Or is he suggesting that the current admin has dragged down Bradley so far they are becoming less relevant or it simulates not having Bradley in the community at all..
But Grayeb does get one thing right...
"The status quo cannot continue," Grayeb said. "We have to have not only a
strong academic program but strong programming as it relates to all athletic
activities, including Bradley basketball. It is an economic thrust to our
community."
The accompanying article
"Major shake up at Bradley seen as opportunity for board chair"
"Bradley Board of Trustees Chairman Doug Stewart said they are looking at this as an opportunity,
"When you look at the leadership in any position, whether it's the Athletic Director, a Dean, the President,
the Provost, the qualities and the attributes that you're looking at tend to change in terms of the context
of the landscape you're working in and the landscape is dynamic and changing."
Bradley has already started the interview process for a new AD."
seems to hint that this is Doug Stewart's LEGACY-defining moment...this is his "opportunity for board chair"
...let me remind you that just 3 months ago Stewart was hailing everything done recently as GREAT, and touting that Bradley was doing better than any time in the past 30 years, and that changes did not need to be made - even rewarding the top dogs with contract extensions - in Dr. Glasser's case - 5-6 years into the future!
...all the while assuring us that he's in the driver's seat and he's supporting all the current personnel.
....then massive changes get made with all the top personnel out the door costing Bradley multiple millions in buyouts-- so doesn't this trouble some that just maybe Stewart does not see the problems & the needs as most people do, and as they really are - yet he's in the driver's seat again selecting the direction for the future?
I am troubled that the very guy taking credit for driving Bradley to the brink of collapse is now anxious to be the guy who selects all the next top brass.

Scout article says that Bradley's Engineering Dean and Business Dean are also seeking employment elsewhere & wanting to get out up on the Hilltop!!
Whoa...that's a lot of top people - at least SEVEN (President, Provost, AD, The Registrar has left, Namesake of the Robert Turner School of Entrepreneurship & Board Chairman has pulled out, and two of the top Deans wanting out) all bolting or being sent packing at about the same time!
There's obviously a whole lot more to this story - and at least the BU Scout is talking about it..
but oddly the local media either does not care or is purposely acting like it is not a story...

In addition to Bradley having to replace their President - if you recall, we also lost our Provost, Dr. David Glassman, who left to take the top spot at EIU.
It has just been announced that his replacement will be Dr. Joan L. Sattler, who has previously been serving Bradley University as Dean and Professor of the College of Education and Health Sciences.
She will take over as Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs on June 1, 2015 after Dr. Glassman finishes his final day at Bradley on May 31, 2015 - the same day Dr. Glasser is done.

BU Provost & Asst Administrator Dr. David Glassman no sooner takes over as head of EIU and severe budget woes emerge...
now EIU is forced to lay off and furlough hundreds of people....including Glassman himself who will have to take 16 days of unpaid furlough according to this report.
Budget constraints at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston have forced the university to cut 26 annually contracted faculty, and begin furlough days for a number of employees. Some will take as many as 14 of them.
Some of the largest cuts will be in Athletics...
".. academic side cuts will be smaller proportionally to nonacademic cuts in
areas such as student affairs and athletics.
Glassman said he has also met with athletics director Tom Michael to make
sure the department does not run over its budget this year"
and as expected - the state budget disaster is causing a little panic at just about every state school
