BU 65 @66 Western Carolina FINAL....

I think WE had 3 RB's in the first 10 min, then none in the last 30 min....How can this be?

Coaches don't play, its true, but they do recruit and JL staff have struggled in this area....SS, DC, AT, WE, MK, and the jury is out on JP and AD....

Redshirt AD if he isn't going to see the floor in preseason, cause he won't see the floor during the Valley.

Won't even start a discussion on coaches teaching/improving the players while they are at BU....

Right now I am at the point that I would give my last dollar to see the old #54 (SS) back:!: At least you knew he would give his all, and that poor baster couldn't even run after four years of major injuries:-o SS my man:)

BradleyBrave, Come on down. But be prepared to be home from the golf course in time for all the Braves games with Dave and Dan no matter how the season goes.

That's how my winters go up here already, so it will be nothing new. Well, all except for the golfing part. Usually it's running home through snow, sleet, and wind to watch a muddling midmajor team on my laptop. I'd rather be running home in golf spikes with a sunburn.

Think you'll be impressed. Are you plannng on being there? This is when the young men need us the most and I'm sure the 'Blue Hairs" and the other real fans will be there.

Of course I'll be there...I'm a glutton for punishment and this is the only legit non-con opponent our AD put on our home slate worth driving 150 miles for

Patience

Patience

I've been told the last few years that I had to have patience ... that patience would serve me well as the core of players last year would learn, get better, and perform for us in the future.

The future is today.

I haven't seen any improvement...in fact, I feel that there has been a decrease in performance, enthusiasm, and effort.

Who is accountable? Who?

I have lost my patience. Someone needs to start a burner under Jim Les so that he begins to feel the heat.

Win or lose, you'll never know how much you'll miss Bradley basketball until you leave, with only a chance to see a game or 2 at a sports bar that can pick up the MVC network.

I wasn't implying anything Mike....I didn't listen to the game but wondering what he did to get more time.

He didn't get credit for a second steal that led to a basket. His other steal led to a missed layup and then a foul against WCU, I think.

Other than that he played decent defense, was under control, took care of the ball, and didn't take any ill-advised shots.

So what was the reason why Milos only played 3 whopping minutes when the team was already super shorthanded?

The "Team season" is lost now Warren, become a ball hog the rest of the way and go get your MVC Player of the Year award for your final season of ball.

Milos doesn't play because he isn't good enough to play...pretty simple. The same reason that Anthony Thompson hasn't played for three years, same reason Brandyn Heemskerk didn't play while he was here, etc., etc., etc.

Warren is not going to win Valley POY...they won't give that award to a guy on a play-in team...maybe he can win the Curtis Stuckey "Top Scorer on a Lousy Team" Award, but that will be about it.

I'll be at the games, but to be quite honest, I'm going to try to stay away from this board as much as possible. In an already frustrating season, it only makes it worse to hear the same old tired arguments and spin.

Our bigs had 9 rebounds in 64 min.

This is where the problem lies, not only do they not rebound but they hardly score which is going to make it even tougher for our guards to get good shots, it is obvious that our inside players are the main issue as far as keeping the team from winning, so who"s fault is it?
Poor coaching
Attitude problems
just not very good players

I believe a combination of the first 2 because Will has good skills and I cannot understand why he continues to miss easy layups, be more aggressive and dunk the ball , Prosser did fine for a freshman last night and hope he continues to get better, A.T. has not gotten better and is not aggressive so he scores and rebounds very poorly, the staff needs to work with Will on finishing and his mental approach as he can help this team big time .

No matter how bad BU plays, or how bad their luck is, attending a BU home game is much more fun than staying at home during the winter nights in Peoria. Add a pregame dinner or cocktails downtown and its a night out. Go to watch the cheerleaders :-o who give their all against insurmountable odds of fans really cheering most of the time, go listen to the live pep band music, go to see/catch up with other people you know in town. Instead of walking the malls for exercise, circle the arena at halftime, climb the upper bowl stairs a couple of times. Enjoy the natchos and soft pretzels. Are hotdogs/brats better at home vs an arena? Never. Go watch Quickchange and frisbee catching dogs and acrobatics/stunt bike riders and the dude that drags four manequins around to Queen songs. Go watch babies crawl accross the finish line, little kids in BU cheerleader uniforms or the guy in the front row at mid court who chews out the officials non stop. Buy a 50-50 ticket and keep your fingers crossed. Endear yourself to a cheerleader and hope they toss you a tee-shirt. The game and its results are only a bonus. Go! BU will thank you, as you thank them.

Of course the only reason you hear the same old tired arguments and spin on the Basketball Fan Talk is because the BU BB team performance/results continue to be the same for the past 3, now going into 4 years.

Perhaps the Forum threads should be limited to only praising BU wins, discussing players who played well in losses, praising inbound recruits unequivocally, and cursing the gods for all of the bad bounces, bad calls, bad injuries, and bad NCAA rulings suffered by BU?

Me thinks a 'Rose Colored Glasses' Basketball Fan Talk Forum is what should be added to the Sports Forums offerings to cater to all interests?

I believe we have very talented players even with the loss of probably our top 2 for the season. AW will likely make Valley 1st team, we have seen the potential of DSE and WL as potential 1st-team players in the future, JP will continue to grow and be a stud. WE has shown flashes, but needs to get tougher - maybe that lies on the coaches.
This is a pretty good core to me if you add a healthy TB and SM, and next year's class should be very good.

A lot of people think the world of Dodie's game, but I haven't seen it yet. He misses a lot of easy shots. Maybe I'll witness his first good game this Saturday night.

I haven't seen the "toughness" from BU much in the last few seasons. We are mentally frail IMO and need to be more confident, ESPECIALLY in the final 10 minutes of games!!! Why we lack confidence, I don't know. I guess when you get outrebounded by 20 in a half, it takes something out of ya'.

I observed the 24 hour rule ;) Actually I was at a friends home to watch the Illini game and we listened to BU on his computer before that game. Here's my settled down thoughts to what we listened to and the box score...

We had a better FG%
A better Free Throw%
Six less turnovers!
We had four more steals!

Those are good stats.

The rebounding and several missed layups lost the game.

To me, it sounded like the last 6-10 minutes the referees were giving all the calls to WCU. We shot 15 FT's in the first half and only 5 in the second, doesn't seem right. That's where we missed Sam driving it down the lane to pick up fouls late, one of the other guys will figure that out.

So I think we should have won the game.

We're now 4-3, the seasons still early.

I looked at Utah's roster, they're a big team, that would be a good home win that we'd all be happy about and make us 5-3.

I'd tell you something you didn't know but its already been said by everyone ;)

Go Braves :)
