2020 and Beyond Recruiting Targets

I have been wondering if we would get an international recruit this year. I know some of the players mentioned by DC are currently international recruits or international have backgrounds. I'm too lazy to look it up but have we had an international recruit every year?

No, we did not have any international recruit commit in the 2017 class, and there are no international commitments so far in the 2020 class.
And yes, we have listed a number of international players that Bradley is recruiting for the class of 2020.

Here are all the recruits under Brian Wardle. The international recruits are in red:
2015- Joel Okafor, Luuk van Bree, Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye, Callum Barker, Antoine Pittman, Scottie James, Davante Cooper, Ronnie Suggs, Alex Foster (transfer), Peter Hanley (walkon), D'Angelo McBride (walkon)

2016- Jayden Hodgson, Koch Bar, Darrell Brown Jr, Nate Kennell, Jerome Merritt, Jojo McGlaston, Lou Griffith (walkon)

2017- Elijah Childs, Ryan Stipanovich, Luqman Lundy

2018- Ari Boya, Ja'Shon Henry, Armon Brummett, Chudier Bile
(enrolled for summer school but left Bradley shortly after)

2019- Ville Tahvanainen, Rienk Mast, Antonio Thomas, Danya Kingsby, Terry Nolan Jr., Kevin McAdoo, Stephan Gabriel, Sean Houpt (walkon), Riley Burger (walkon), JaMir Price (enrolled for summer school but left Bradley shortly after)

2020- Darius Hannah, Connor Linke

Another 2020 recruit-
2020 Jayson Kent- 6'5" shooting guard from Oak Forest HS in Oak Forest, IL.

Bradley also following his sophomore teammate 2022 Robbie Avila, a 6'6" wing (see below).

2021 Emarion Ellis- 6'5" point guard from Davenport Central HS, Davenport, Iowa.

2022 recruit Robbie Avila-

Kent can really shoot it with a nice stroke. Knock on him has been lack of strength on his frame. He has been working hard on being more aggressive with driving to the basket this year, rebounding and defending but profiles as a catch and shoot or dribble to set up his mid-range game player. Avila profiles as a very good college player. He is a true 6'8" and listed in some places as 6'9". Rated as a top-ten sophomore in the state of IL. Bradley would be crazy not to be all over this kid. AJ Casey (top Sophomore in IL) of Tinley Park and formerly of Simeon attended the same Arbor Park Jr. High with Robbie Avila and they have played together on the Meanstreets AAU circuit for years. Robbie got the best of AJ last night as the Oak Forest team is much better than Tinley. Oak Forest is now 20-1 on the season and ranked #18 in the Chicago Sun-Times and are very well coached. They will have to get past Hillcrest and Morgan Park to advance in their sectional. Robbie has outstanding fundamentals and is fun to watch. Great footwork. Very high basketball IQ. Great inside and outside game. He is not flashy and cannot jump out of the gym like Casey but Avila is a better basketball player. Avila is shooting about 70% from the floor on the year and shoots at a high % for FT and 3's as well. Great vision and good passer. Both are good kids as well. On a side note, Kent's sister, Janae is quite a talent. She is a freshman on the Oak Forest HS varsity and put up 30 points and 10 boards in their first game of the season...as a freshman. I will be at the game tonight as well as Oak Forest plays Lincoln Way East HS at the LW West Showdown.

One new name- this recruit was on an unofficial visit today (Sat. 10/5) at the Bradley open scrimmage at Renaissance Coliseum.

2021 James Dent- 6'4" shooting guard who is a junior at Springfield Southeast HS this year. He is an emerging talent who has not gotten much publicity yet, but that will probably change this season

Didn't see this posted, but looks like we offered Connor Hickman:

https://twitter.com/connor1035/statu...22687503667200

I saw Connor Hickman at the game. He was there on an unofficial visit with an older man who I assumed was his father. He is a 2021 recruit, and listed in various places as a point guard, a shooting guard, or a combo guard. He is an excellent shooter, and is more recently listed as a 6'2" shooting guard.

We mentioned Bradley's interest in Connor Hickman back on August 15, 2019-

Another impressive British recruit that our coaches have interest in-

2021 Cameron Hildreth- 6'4" point/SG guard who is playing this season for the Worthing Storm, a club team in the NBL division 1 pro league in England. He is just recently turned 17 years old and is playing with pro players in their 20's and 30's, and is starting to get noticed.

He is averaging 18.9 ppg, 3.3 apg, and 6 rpg, and is shooting 36% from three-

Nice article about him and his desire to play college ball in the US. It mentions he is also playing in a school league with his prep school Holy Trinity in Crawley, England (south of London)

With currently 2 open scholarships for next season, what positions do you feel Bradley will be looking to fill? From my perspective, I would love to see them add a point guard and an athletic wing who can is capable of shooting the 3 ball.

I agree those seem to be our greatest needs. i would say one of the things we currently lack is speed/quickness. Other than Kingsby I don’t think of any of our players as particularly fast/quick and that is a big limitation.

I would add the caveat that I don’t know enough about Mcadoo and Nolan’s game and that might impact things.

I agree that the top 2 priorities are probably point guard, and wing. But there could end up being more than 2 open scholarships. Recall that there have been scholarship players leave every year under Coach Wardle who still had eligibility remaining. And some of them were not expected.
Here are the early departures-
2016- Joel Okafor, Scottie James, Davante Cooper, Mike Shaw (retired from basketball)
2017- Ronnie Suggs, Jerome Merritt, Alex Foster
2018- Jojo McGlaston, Ryan Stipanovich, Callum Barker
2019- Antoine Pittman, Jayden Hodgson, Armon Brummett, Chudier Bile (left before enrolled for fall semester)
2020- Stephan Gabriel, JaMir Price (left before enrolled for fall semester), ?more

I also have been thinking PG and an athletic wing. I'm not as concerned about 3 point shooting as getting to the rim and defending other athletic players.

Thus my "currently" addition to that sentence ;-). I would surely love if everyone came back next year. I guess time will tell...

Another 2020 recruit-
2020 Jayson Kent- 6'6" shooting guard from Oak Forest HS in Oak Forest, IL.

2020 Bradley recruit Jayson Kent was at the game tonight (MSU vs. BU 2/19/20). He is a 6'6" or 6'7" wing guard who has played the 1, 2, and 3 positions this season at Oak Forest HS, a south suburb of Chicago. He has really emerged over last summer and this season in high school as a good shooter with good ball-handling skills. He has lead his team at Oak Forest HS to a surprising 25-1 record this season, and they have climbed to #5 in the nost recent Class 3A poll-

If yesterday's game wasn't as good of a selling point for coming to BU, I don't know what is. That crowd was electric when we won it in the end.

One of Bradley's top targets for their final 2020 scholarship is guard Latrell Wrightsell, Jr., a senior at Omaha Central HS, who we have have reported on here since October, 2018 . He and his family have already visited Bradley. He has reportedly grown to 6'3" now, and he is putting up big numbers so far this season.
https://www.bradleyfans.com/forum/sp...adley-saturday

This past week he was named the High School Player of the Week by an Omaha TV station after leading his Omaha Central team to 3 wins and the championship of a local tournament-
https://www.wowt.com/content/sports/...566155751.html

Then he followed those performances with a 24 point game last night to lead his team to a big win over Lincoln HS. They are now 5-0-

He is among the top returning 3-point shooters in the state of Nebraska from last season-

Bradley has now extended a scholarship offer to Latrell Wrightsell, Jr.
