Where do we end up at end of conf. season?

As previously posted before, am sure Wardle is aware of the situation with Lathan Sommerville. Does not hurt to try to convince him to transfer. Has to be his decision with no one else including his father trying to persuade him to transfer. All he can say is not interested. But definitely worth trying.

I sense the sentiment among fans after the dominating win over Drake (for the second time this season) is a bit brighter than it was a week ago after the home loss to UIC. UIC has positioned themselves as a legitimate contender in the MVC (tied with Bradley and Murray State for 2nd place- Standings).
Belmont now has a 2 game lead over the three 2nd place teams and 2 1/2 games over Illinois State. But Belmont has arguably the toughest road schedule remaining, though their home schedule looks like the easiest among the top teams. And the case can be made that Bradley's road schedule is possibly the least challenging, though Bradley might have the toughest remaining home schedule among the top 5 teams.
Belmont has road games at UIC, Bradley, Illinois State and Murray State. Their remaining home games look more likely like wins (Drake, UNI, Indiana State & Evansville).
Murray State has road games at SIU, Indiana State, Illinois State and Bradley and home games against UIC, UNI, Belmont, and Evansville.
UIC has road games at Murray State, Drake, Evansville and Indiana State, and home games against Belmont, Illinois State, Valpo, and Bradley.
Illinois State has road games at Evansville, UIC, Bradley and UNI, and home games against SIU, Drake, Valparaiso, Murray State and Belmont.

We are not close to securing a 1st round bye in St. Lou.
If we win this next game, which we should, we'll be 9-4 but have to keep the pedal to the metal.
I know one thing - that 4-5 matchup is going to be a good one! And anyone from 1 to 6 is capable to winning Arch Madness this year, but ultimately Belmont is the team to beat.

RE NIT possibilities, we are not even in the convo for it. It would be really nice to get in again, but it will be very tough.

The Braves have 3 home match-ups vs 3 in the Quad 2. A sweep might help our chances, and I would think Bradley has made a name for itself in the tourney, having some success the past 3 seasons in the NIT.
I think we're at the point in the program to not accept any post-season tourney lower than the NIT.
At this point, 2 Valley teams should be in pretty good shape for the NIT, tho their likely seeding (as they stand currently) would give them a road opener.

For the Braves, let's just get in a good position for Arch Madness and keep getting better to have a shot at winning 3 in a row in the Lou!

Bumping this thread...it looks like half of us were correct in our somewhat optimistic prediction of 13-7, but I don't think any of us dreamed of getting the 2-seed with this record...even as recent as noon today!

Some said 12-8 or 11-9, which did seem more realistic before the Belmont game. We played great at Carver this season so a testament to the great fans who showed up 💪!

To answer your question- trying not to be too overly optimistic, and realizing Bradley has been a bit lucky with a couple of the wins...
1) What will be our final MVC record?- 13-7
2) What seed do we get at Arch Madness?- 4
3) How far do we get in Arch Madness?- Championship game, runner-up
Well, I got the record right, but missed a little on the seed. Go BU!

If anyone was able to predict the winner of these Valley games they would be lying. Every time you expect a team to win they seem to lose.
I predicted 12-8. I said split the Iowa games which we did. Split the MS/Belmont games which we won both. I has us losing both UIC games and winning both Valparaiso games which we split and beating isu red.
Now it's time to play the 3 best games we played all season and go dancing.

Lathan Sommerville finally made it back from injury but played just 2 minutes in their loss to Illinois,
then today, even though Washington is comfortably handling Northwestern, Sommerville hasn't played.

Now one of the other big men/front court players that was getting playing time for Washington, is injured
and out for the season (Jacob Ognacevic). Ognacevic hasn't played since Feb 24, so Lathan Sommerville has suddenly
gotten more playing time - ~20 min per game compared to just 8 min per game in his previous 6 games...
In that last 4-game span he's averaged under 5 ppg & 2 rpg. Hope he considers playing in front of his hometown fans.

Had our recruit from E. Kentucky been able to play we win this Tour. and at least 4 more games. Do not understand the grade issue part since most of these players are not graduating on time because of all the transferring.Bowling Green took him.

I am not sure I'd agree with that. Sure, we could have used a big wing who can make threes. But we'll never know. Mayar Wol would have given Bradley a bigger wing who could make threes, but he only averaged 2.8 rebounds per game this year, and that would have hurt an already below-average rebounding team at Bradley.
Bowling Green ended their regular season 18-13, and 9-9 in the MAC, tied for 5th. They play their MAC Tournament starting Thursday. But there is something about Mayar Wol that is curious. At Bowling Green, he started the season looking like their best player. He had games of 32, 25, 21, 21, and 19 points in the first part of the season, and was their top 3-point shooter. He's never come close to those numbers lately.
He's now the 4th leading scorer with an average of 10.6 ppg. He still leads the team in 3-point FG% (39.1%), yet his playing time has dropped and he's now averaging just 20 minutes per game. And, his production tailed off a lot late in the season, including multiple games with ZERO points and others with just 2, 3, 4, and 5 points.

We need to stay to the idea that these are students/athletes still. They are here for school and an education. Lets not lose sight that academics are first and foremost. Wardle is recruiting the parents as well. I still believe most parents want their child to have an education also

their coach is only now figuring out what our coach saw right away

My (safe yet optimistic) prediction:
1) 13-7
2) 4-seed
3) Semifinals
Not often am I right so I'm gonna repost my fairly accurate prediction from a couple months ago. ;)

Dub also knows UNI was the team I did NOT want to face in the semis. Didn't know they'd be that tough tho...and maybe even tougher today, their 4th win in 4 days!
