2011 BU Commitment- Remy Abell

I like the "Big fish in a small pond" statement!" RA is really built for a high school player...looks more like a Jr in college with the body he has already!:D

have we ever had a 3 star recruit ?

Rivals List of our 3 stars:

2009: Jordan Prosser
2008: Darian Norris
2007: Anthony Thompson, Sam Maniscalco
2006: Rashad Austin, Xavier Crawford
2005: Ray Brown
2004: None
2003: Marcellus Sommerville
2002: None

So we have had 8 possible 3 stars
Only 4 had or are having an actual career

1 was great, 1 is great, 1 is somewhat disappointing, 1 is undecided

hmmm I hope he can rival or exceed SM in his career.

Looks like the new practice faciliy is paying off. A story in the Arizona Republic a couple weeks ago was about how the new practice facility at Arizona State that opened in 2009 had a big impact on their recruiting.

Dang, that dude looks like he has a football stuffed in his biceps LOL.

I'm just curious, if he is contending for Mr. Basketball in KY, why didn't he get some BCS school offers? His 3 offerings were mid major type. Makes me wonder if maybe their is some grade/character issues he may have to work out in his senior season.

Alright all, lets not hype him up to much, we all know our luck with star commitments these last 2 years. Someone else may snatch him up or he goes on to having an unbelievable senior season and a BCS school comes along. I'll be anxious to see him play once he has moved his belongings into the Apartment.

stop being ANTI-BU. BU HATER.

LOL your a gag dude. I would bet this hotdog i'm eating that 65% of the BU fan population is afraid a BCS school may come along if Abell totally slaughters the competition this season. Only time will tell though, but for now, here's to looking forward to him playing at Bradley.

I'd be lying if I denied having those thoughts almost immediately! In fact, I started hoping he has a "down" year until I read this......"Remy Abell said that he will sign with Bradley when the fall signing period begins in November".

That's a lot better than stringing us along and waiting to even sign his NLI. He does play ball in the state of Kentucky though.....so yajusneverknow. I would have to chalk this one up entirely to the BU coaching staff and the new facilities. Great job!

Now....let's do something really special with that last scholarship! :D

I have heard he was our #1 target...and Coach Les went for a home visit and landed the kid --
anyone who says the facilities aren't going to pay off for a long time is dead wrong...
so congrats not only to Remy & his family but also congrats to Coach Les & staff and to all the BU supporters and donors who had a part in this because of their support and contributions that led to the new facilities.

Abell has a D-I-ready physique and D-I talent... and chose Bradley over at least one Big Ten and one Big East offer!

Remy is ranked #148 in the NATION by Rivals....
"Rivals.com rates Abell, a three-star recruit, as the No. 36 shooting guard
and No. 148 prospect in the 2011 class."
scout.com has him ranked 26th best SG in the nation...

Here are the stats from Remy Abell's AAU team.-
http://www.hometeamsonline.com/teams/default.asp?u=DUNN&t=c&s=basketball&p=stats

He lead his AAU team in both scoring and rebounding, despite the fact his team included other highly rated D1 prospects like Lyonell Gaines (teammate at Eastern HS- headed to IUPUI), Robbie Stenzel (another high-scoring shooting guard- committed to EKU), Jordan Shanklin (high scoring point guard- committed to IUPUI), Tony Kimbro (another high-scoring wing being recruited by top ACC, Big 12, and SEC schools) , and Timmy Knipp (lead the state of Kentucky with a 31 ppg average last year and committed to EKU).-
http://www.hometeamsonline.com/teams/default.asp?u=DUNN&p=home&t=c&s=basketball

Remy averaged 17.4 ppg, 6.3 rpg, and 2.2 apg. He shot 64.7% overall, and 41.2% from three (though he shot only about 1 three per game), and 75.4% from the FT line.

He averaged 13.9 ppg for his high school team last year as a junior. His high school team (Louisville Eastern HS) includes at least 2 other D1 players, Lyonell Gaines (committed to IUPUI), and Kameron Woods (committed to Butler). His team is one of the favorites to win the state championship this season.

Remy will be the tallest player JL has recruiter in a couple of years. Kinda makes me wonder if he is the big man we are hoping for
