Although Steve Alford at UCLA is safe, he has come under fire for UCLA's poor performance this past year. And as has been posted, he has one of the top 2016 recruiting classes in the country, so his team should get better.

But he made a token amend today- He published a letter addressed to "Dear UCLA Family, Friends, Alumni and Supporters", and in it, he gave back the 1-year extension of his contract that he received after the 2013-14 season (his first season at UCLA when he went 28-9 with almost all Ben Howland's players).

Alford signed a 7-year, $18.2 million contract in 2013, at an average of $2.6 million per year, so he still has 4 more years coming anyway.

Dartmouth just fired Paul Cormier. Dartmouth went 10-18 this year, 4-10 in the Ivy League.
In his 6 seasons at Dartmouth, Cormier was 55-116 overall, and 23-61 in the Ivy.
 
Pitt fans have been on him for the last couple years and I think Dixon is convinced they'll never be happy - so his move to TCU is kinda like Tubby's move from Minnesota to Texas Tech and Steve Alford's move from Iowa - just to get away from the hostile fan base to go where maybe they'll appreciate a winner


Here's another puzzler - Larry Shyatt is out at Wyoming..he won 25 games last year, had averaged 21 wins/yr, and this was his first losing season!

Former Arizona State & NC State head coach Herb Sendek was seen on campus at Santa Clara - instantly making him the rumored next choice for head coach there if a deal can be settled..

btw- Herb Sendek was Corey Hawkins' coach during Corey's freshman season at Arizona State before he transferred to UC-Davis

I reported this a while ago. A friend of mine who happens to be friends w/ one of Vandy's coaches told him they were informed back the end of Jan/ first of Feb they would not be retained and to look for other jobs. Have not heard anything lately but their message board is sure split as to whether he stays or goes.
Time will tell.

Yes, you posted this back on March 2, but are you saying that as far back as January...when the team had half the season left to play, even SOUNDLY defeated both Texas A&M and Kentucky (both of the conference leaders) and were in the hunt for the SEC Championship, a post-season bid..
that at that point the administration came to them and told them to pack their stuff, they were gonna get canned?
