2017 Valley recruits

The current 2017 Valley recruit/commit table is just getting started
The number of scholarships available for 2017 is not guaranteed since that may change without notice and it isn't always made known who is and who is not on scholarship.

2017
Bradley - (1 scholarships currently open because we still have a 2016 open scholarship, but that will probably change)
Drake - (3 scholarships currently open)
Evansville - (10 scholarships currently open)
Illinois State - (4 scholarships currently open)
Indiana State - (6 scholarships currently open since there is no official report that they have signed Nick Robinson for 2016)
Loyola - (3 scholarships currently open)
Missouri State - (4 scholarships currently open)
UNI - Austin Phyfe (2 scholarships left for 2017)
SIU - (6 scholarships currently open)
Wichita State - (2 scholarships currently open)

Tornado-
UNI only has 2 scholys for 2017. Morgan and Austin are the two graduating, and there is already a commitment in Phyfe (as you have mentioned). That leaves only 1 remaining scholy. I'll put the scholly breakdown below.

Sr- Bohannon, Jesperson, Washpun
Jr- Morgan, Austin
So- Carlson, Friedman, Koch, Knar, Lohaus
Fr- None
Currently RS-ing Fresh- Dahl, Haldemann, McDonnell
W/O: RS Fresh- Conrey

OK, thanks - those numbers are next to impossible to be 100% certain of since it's still 2 years out and uncertain who might be on scholarship or walk-on.

Anyway - the reason I listed TWO remaining was cuz at that time on 11/16 - you had only signed TWO guys for 2016--
you still had one slot available which went later that day to Isaiah Brown - but before he was signed- then you had one avail for 2016 and then two for 2017 if that slot had remained unsigned, but it's filled now.

Likewise- Indiana State never signed Nick Robinson- so they have an extra one they can use in 2017 (although I don't know the status of TJ Bell- rumors his injury could be career threatening), and Loyola pulled one of the surprises - keeping the commit of Bruno Skokna completely under the radar until they had his LOI - kinda interesting since they lost one of their international recruits last year after his name was mentioned on this board. ;)
...

No problem, man. I appreciate your work with this and I'm just trying to help you out with the knowledge I have!

We might start hearing about 2017 recruits verballing now that the 2016 signing period will be coming to a close...

So far, we still have only one verbal for 2017 in the MVC - and the numbers for "open scholarships" are not all accurate since players have departed and those scholarships may be filled this spring
I have seen where some MVC coaches are making new "offers" for 2017 kids...

The earliest anyone can sign for 2017 is November 9, 2016

2017

Officially, Wichita has zero scholarships available for '17. All 13 are currently claimed and we have no SRs on scholarship. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually land one or two since there always seems to be one or two that will leave.

I said it might not be accurate because recent activity but it will be clearer once this spring's recruiting is done

Prediction - I think if we don't get a solid grad transfer or a surprise recruit, maybe a juco, that can help right away - look for that last scholarship to target a 2017 recruit to go with another one or two that might open in spring 2017

Des Moines Register has a couple decent MVC recruiting articles for the 2017 guys..lots of info relevant mostly to Drake & Northern Iowa
..now how do their media guys know so much about the kids they are targeting?

the 2016 recruiting season is wrapping up - but there'll still be a coupe more commits...

then we will begin seeing more 2017 verbals - but currently ONLY Austin Phyfe to UNI is the sole 2017 verbal in the entire MVC

UNI has the only commit for 2017 - the number of open scholarships obviously could change

Evansville - (7 scholarships currently open)
Illinois State - (2 scholarships currently open)
Indiana State - (4 scholarships currently open)
Loyola - (1 scholarships currently open)
Missouri State - (3 scholarships currently open)
UNI - Austin Phyfe (1 scholarships left for 2017)
SIU - (4 scholarships currently open)
Wichita State - (2 scholarships currently open)

Dave Reynolds says Bradley is showing interest in Illini Bluffs' Taylor Bruninga (2017)

If everyone returns to Wichita then we have zero scholarships available for the class of '17. The only SRs we have are walk-ons.

I kinda know that but am going on what's been declared official....
probably those two scholarships may already be committed to Frankamp & Peyton Allen ....but....

Wichita has
Scholarship Seniors - none
Scholarship Juniors - 6 - Kelly, Brown, Smith, Nurger, Willis, Morris
Scholarship Sophomores - 2 - Hamilton, McDuffee
Scholarship Freshmen - 3 - Keyser, Shamet, Reeves

PLUS - at one time or another, both Frankamp and Allen were said to be walk-ons, with the possibility of getting scholarships later.

Both were described thus:
"scholarship status for future seasons is undecided"
or
"possibility of earning a scholarship later"...

can you show me an official statement from Wichita State or a specific release from them saying both are now on scholarship?

Official statement? No. Just what we've heard from 3G. Allen was promised a scholarship if memory serves and I know some have debated Frankamp but both Mike Kennedy and Paul Sullentrop have stated numerous times on radio that he will be on scholarship.

But I do understand where you're coming from in how you're approaching it. That said, I feel confident that with the way things stand we have zero for '17 but I'm sure we will end up seeing one or two additions somehow. Some have speculated that Frankamp may willingly stay as a walk-on or go back to walk-on status if need be but that's purely fan speculation.

we're almost into August and still only ONE verbal in the entire MVC for 2017...
by the 1st week of August last year we had seven plus the Peyton Allen transfer - including two for Bradley (Koch Bar & Nate Kennell)

so we ought to see more soon..

Loyola gets their 1st 2017 commitment - and only the 2nd 2017 verbal thus far in the entire MVC

Cameron Krutwig (6-9, 270lb) from Algonquin Jacobs HS - rated by some as perhaps the top big man in Illinois in 2017 - LINK - LINK - but that will change if Jeremiah Tilmon enrolls at East St. Louis as I have heard he will from a pretty good source..

Krutwig is a 3-Star who also held offers from Evansville, SIU, NIU, Milwaukee, UIC, UC-Davis, and a few MAC schools among others..

Cameron's older brother Conrad Krutwig (Class of 2009 - who played here in 2012 when Bradley faced Parkside in exhibition play), was a very similar player - who first went to South Dakota then transferred to Wisconsin-Parkside and who was also ranked among the top big men in IL back in 2009.

In 2009, the Top four big men in IL according to one ranking were
Jordan Prosser, Conrad Krutwig, Marcus Yarbrough (older brother of ISU's Milik Yarbrough), and Jack Cooley

Updated for the new 2017 Bradley commit...

2017
Bradley - Ryan Stipanovich - LINK (0 open scholarships)
Drake - (2 scholarships currently open)
Evansville - (7 scholarships currently open)
Illinois State - (2 scholarships currently open)
Indiana State - (4 scholarships currently open)
Loyola - Cameron Krutwig (0 scholarships currently open)
Missouri State - (3 scholarships currently open)
UNI - Austin Phyfe (1 scholarships left for 2017)
SIU - (4 scholarships currently open)
Wichita State - (2 scholarships currently open)

Doesn't this now put us one over for 2017?

Bradley is at the maximum of 13 scholarships for this year, 2016-2017. And we have no seniors, so if everyone currently on the roster returns, yes, this would put us over the limit of 13. But that rule only applies to the current year, so something will change by next year to accomodate this addition..
