Most MVC teams are well on their way to refilling their rosters, But, curiously, Indiana State has not landed a single transfer from the transfer portal, despite the fact that nearly their entire team has left.
As far as I have found, these are the only scholarship players still at Indiana State for the 2024-25 season-
Aaron Gray, a junior who missed most of last season with an injury, and appeared in the 15 games, averaging 1.3 ppg. He entered the portal but withdrew and returned to Indiana State.
Jaden Daugherty, a freshman who appeared in 12 games for 5 mpg, and averaged 3.1 ppg
Derek Vorst, a freshman who appeared in 21 games, for 5 mpg, and averaged 1.7 ppg.

Josh Schertz did have a couple recruits who were committed and signed last fall, but there is no word whether those two have remained committed.

And as soon as I note that Indiana State has not gotten any portal transfers, they get a commitment from Rice University transfer Camp Wagner this morning. He is a 6'6" freshman who played in 18 games for Rice in 2023-24, and averaged 3.6 minutes per game, 1.2 ppg, and 0.5 rpg. Rice was 11-21, and 10th place (tied for last place) in the American Athletic Association.

Missouri State's Davion Hill, a 6'2" freshman guard who redshirted and did not play this past season, had initially said he was remaining at Missouri State. But today, he changed his mind and announced he will enter the portal and transfer, rather than stay and play for Cuonzo Martin. - https://www.news-leader.com/story/s...transfer-portal-pennsylvania-mvc/73502105007/

The only 2 remaining players from this past season to stay at Missouri State for next season are freshman Nick Kramer and walk-on freshman Tommy Pinegar. They both appeared in only 8 games. Kramer scored 30 points for the season, Pinegar was scoreless.

I'll go out on a limb and say that InSU's chances of playing on Thursday in St. Louis are pretty good.

SIU sophomore guard Trey Miller was planning on transferring after Bryan Mullins was fired, but today he announced he was withdrawing from the portal, and returning to SIU. He played sparingly for SIU last season, and averaged 1.1 ppg and 1.0 apg.

SIU's Trey Miller, who played very little last season, had entered the transfer portal after Bryan Mullins was fired. But then he changed his mind and withdrew on April 17, and announced he was staying at SIU to play for new coach Scott Nagy..
But today, he has changed his mind again, and has re-entered the transfer portal - https://twitter.com/T_Miller2022/status/1785017904939012319

This has got to drive Nagy crazy.

Maybe Nagy advised him to leave by informing him he would not be playing.

Maybe Nagy advised him to leave by informing him he would not be playing.

I considered that possibility, but Nagy only has a couple players for his 2024-25 roster as of now (Steffe, Hensley) and a couple recruits (Webber, Aligbe), so why would he try to run Miller off?
And Nagy was hired March 28, and Miller withdrew from the portal on April 17. He would have had to have Nagy's OK to return at that time. Once a player enters the portal, the school is not obligated to take him back.

There are reports, unconfirmed, that UNI will get a portal commitment from Virginia guard Leon Bond III. He is a 6'5" redshirt freshman originally from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. He redshirted his first year at Virginia, then played in 24 games off the bench his redshirt-freshman year, averaging 4.1 ppg and 2.8 rpg. He attempted only 2 three pointers last season, and was 1-2.
