2025 and beyond recruits

Da Coach, why are we only going for Div.2 transfers?Ido realize they are good players and could be even greater! I don't have to look farther then Drake or Christian Davis to know D2 can Win! But can't we try for some good Even 3 star D1 Players? And I know Junior College players can become great also! ( Malevy Leons) . Is this BW view that he can win without D1 transfers?

They are not "only going for Div. 2 transfers". Making contact with transfers does not mean those are the only targets, or the primary targets.. The coaches know what they need.
I suspect the reason we are seeing many D2 contacts right now is that most D2 teams have finished their seasons, and the D2 transfer portal has hundreds of players in it already. And many of them are very good players looking to move up to D1 and maybe get NIL money..
Most D1 players are still playing and thus the D1 transfer portal has only a few dozen players in it. And many of them are kids who were unhappy with playing time or who quit their teams before the season ended. If the last couple years are any indication, the D1 portal will eventually reach 2000+, and I am sure we'll start hearing more D1 transfer names.

Thanks DaCoach for sharing your Info. About Tranfers and the Portal. I understand now why we are mainly in touch with D2 Transfers, and I realize D1 transfers are no Guarantees of success. I believe we lost all 3 of our D1 transfers in the Portal last year!!!! Maybe it's just a coincidence, but as you stated,D2 players can be very good and would be able to have an Immediate Impact next year! Maybe they are Hungrier then many D1 players as you say who are unhappy and mentally not be able to contribute as well. I know that's a broad Generalization, but given our past success with Juco and D2,will see how it shapes up next year!!!!

Because some the D2 players are listed here doesn't mean that is all Coach is going after. I am sure he is looking at all his options

I'm not too worried about where we get our players from. BW and staff have done a great job of finding talent and wherever they go, I'm sure they'll find high character guys that can play the game. There's always room for improvement, but BU is as good as anyone at finding and keeping talent.

Looking forward to next year, especially with our legacy kid Zobrist coming to town! How can you not be excited to see the son of one of our finest Braves of all time playing in the red and white?

I know these names are just preliminary, but I Would LOVE to see Duggan and Hill in Braves unis next year. Both, I think, would be very good players in the Valley. Bullock is intriguing, great athleticism, but does he only have 1 year left?

I just read Lathan Sommerville will probably enter the Portal. From what I read, he's not a good Fit for Rutgers next year! Their coach like Wardle is very defensive minded and Lathan had a difficult time Guarding in the Big Ten. However, his Offensive skills show great promise, so he will be highly recruited in the Portal. We all know about his father transferring to Bradley and making the Sweet 16! The Question is would he consider Bradley? Plus would Brian Wardle want him? Rutgers had a disaster of a year after such high hopes when they landed 2 projected NBA Players! History does show for the most part that landing these kind of Freshman players doesn't Guarantee going far in the NCAA tournament!

I would welcome it....Lathan come on down!8)

interesting, after Lathan had a very good game last night, the main talk in NJ is whether he’s leaving to the portal.

He is 4th on the team in minutes played, started 15 games, was 3rd on the team in both scoring and rebounding, is the highest scoring and rebounding player who isn't expected to be gone to the NBA Draft Lottery,
He's also tops in shooting pct and in FT shooting pct. (he hit 30 in a row thru last night)
Last night he had, 16 pts, 5 reb, several of which were key buckets and rebounds down the stretch to get the game to OT

As I have stated before in posts, the decision is entirely up to him. Do not need persuasion from his father. If he so chooses to come to BU I for one would welcome his decision. Immediate starter with what we are losing this year. We shall see.

Quimari Peterson …..

He's an "undersized" scoring guard but very talented...
Bradley did then offer - and in fact, I recall that we were the first DI to offer him...

….He is now one of the best scorers in the nation
19ppg, 4 rpg, 4 asst, and 2 steals/game and hits 40.4% of 3-pointers - and almost 80% on FTs…

As I had hoped-
Quimari Peterson is now in the portal
I would love to get him at BU -
we offered him first…

Oh man. Lathan checks all the boxes.
Legacy Player.. check
Great Family.. check
D1 Experience… check
From Peoria.. check
Plays a position we need.. check

What a monster he’d be in the MVC, and could u imagine the crowds here at carver with 3 big time players from the area to root for. Man those 3 could do some damage, along with Wheeler.

COME HOME LATHAN!!

u only get 1 chance to play college ball for your hometown!! You won’t regret it!!

There I did my part, I’d expect him to sign with BU real soon now… lol

lol please nobody wake me from this dream until BU gets to the final four

Nice work, DR! If that doesn't do the job, nothing will! ;)

There is a report that Iowa’s Owen Freeman is considering Bradley as one of his options.
He is in the portal but has a “Do not contact” label so he already has a field of teams he is considering.
Hopefully Bradley can come up with the NIL funds, because Creighton also wants him.
