49 BU --66 Wyoming post-game

We don't have any shooters coming in next year either.

I have been saying this as well. I am no insider, so I don't know if there is somehow another scholie opening up, we probably wouldn't know this early anyway, but we are one in the hole already with WE coming back. College basketball is dominated by the three point shot. Not too many teams win without shooting, and I don't see that problem being solved any time soon. We can't expect a couple of freshman to come in and be great shooters/players right away in the next year or two. So it seems to me it will be several years before we are good at shooting, and hence really a good team. I hope something changes.

Look at the team the year after the sweet-sixteen season, the three shot can keep you in games, build momentum, and cover up a lot of weaknesses. You cannot live by the three, but you need to be able to shoot it in this game.

Sometimes it's hard to see the forest for the trees. If not for the fallout from the coaching change we would be 6-1,imo or at worst 5-2. Everything this team lacks is in Champaogn.

Sam would have helped but he isn't everything

And then next year we would be 12-20 again.

This change was not for one year.

I, for one, will stand by the current coaching staff and players.

We can't control or worry about players who gave up on Bradley!

I stand by the coaching staff but as far as players go we only need to keep the ones that are capable of contributing, if we don"t go out and get 2 more players to go with are 2 new recruits we most likely have the same problems next season with no real 3 point shooters, in order to have a good inside game you have to have a decent outside game, we finally have good inside players.

Let's see...we don't have a true PG, so Geno gets one of those in KB.

Then, we need a replacement for TB, so Geno gets one in TP.

And we don't have any remaining scholies...

Just how do you propose getting some shooters for next year unless we send some kids packing???

It's stunning to see how negative this board has become. I cannot imagine how giving up on players and coaches in the 1st year of a coaching regime is reasonable.

I think this group is struggling, but trying to work their way through a very tough situation. We are obviously very short handed.

I think the players and coaches are going to stay on point and keep working on establishing a style. This is a process and we are in the very first steps of it.

If you are giving up now, fine. But don't come back later on when the ship has turned and the program is winning again.

Go BU.

Come on, we just signed 5 players in this class, 3 of them by the current staff, 5 if NW and DS are counted, and they should be since Geno wanted them. So if some fans see deficiencies, just how is it that some people still create a way to blame a coach who isn't here anymore.

And I consider myself optimistic, but even I would be fooling myself to think KB can replace what SM would have given us, or that TP can come close to what TB does.

I believe 100% in GF and I like all our players. I think we will be good eventually. However I do believe it is going to be a long process and several years before we are good. There are just too many missing pieces. We do need to see improvement though, and right now the team is not looking particularly good in any area, especially offense.

Longest sentence ever.

Anyways, you are proposing we keep DSE, Eastman, Lemon Jr., and Prosser? I guess we could keep Crawford and Shayok another year and see how they do, but everyone else should be gone?

You have a short memory. Things have been far more negative in the past few years, especially last spring. I have faith Geno will get things going eventually, but what we are seeing is the direct and expected effects of the changes last spring. Some fans were so blind as to think everything would be better immediately.

Agreed. I think it's crazy to say we should only keep the players that are contributing. That doesn't leave much at all. How long do we give the new guys to "contribute". That would be an interesting recruiting sell.

I want to like this new staff... I really do.... But so far, they haven't shown me that they deserve to coach at the MVC level!

Yeah, but Geno signed all of his freshmen late as a result of only being hired on March 28th. It's not like he had a plethora of players to choose from. And lets face it, there are a couple players on this team who are pretty much dead weight. No offense to them, they just don't belong at this level.

And how is comparing Bell to Maniscalco even in the least bit relevant? By the time Bell gets here it will be two years removed from Sam playing here. Think about what we have, not what could have been. And if you really want to think about what could have been, I'll tell you. Mediocrity.

It is also stunning how some people all of the sudden don't care about winning, after saying last year that it was all that mattered, regardless of the situation.

B & C - I once had a D-I coach tell me that some head coaches MAY NOT be all that interested in winning in Year-1...

Not only would it create undue expectations for year-two and beyond -
but it will always set up the arguments that you inherited all the talent ...etc...
and you'll be hearing the line for years to come - 'how come everything dropped off when you got your own players'...

Well -- I am not saying that's what happening here but you'd have to admit it sure does look like we're playing with people out of position in a style that doesn't fit our players

I am with you DC, but I just don't get how outside of three players our shooting became so bad, particularly from beyond the three point line. Did these players forget how to shoot all of the sudden, or are they just rushing shots under Geno's new system? I think Les did a good job recruiting, but I'm wondering if we need to concentrate more on getting good pure shooters over more athletic types.

OMG!!! It sounds as if we are on the same page on SOME things. May need to talk to you before a game sometime!

KB is not a true point guard. They are going to make him into a point guard. Send everyone packing as far as I care if you can't play get rid of them don't keep them around.
