64BU vs.63 USC Game Thread

Eight points down? I'm not going to generate false hope with the performance thus far. I caught part of the UNT-KU game on ESPN3.com last night, they were down 9 by half but blew 'em away from the Phog by 33.

Still early, but the MVC (yes, even Bradley) has got to start winning games that we are supposed to win and maybe even not supposed to win. My feeling is that we'll just be another one-bid conference.
 
Kinda' thought we'd have trouble this weekend. Didn't think it would be THIS pathetic, though. AW needs to ride the pine 'til he gets his stroke back.
This would be a very disappointing loss.
Our conference looks pretty bad right now.
 
yeah.......this sucks.

I am also dealing with 1470 being 50 seconds ahead...

There is no way they can come out and shoot worse....this USC team looks gross.

...or close out or keep an eye on the man streaking through our zone or take the ball to the basket or not turn the ball over...

There's no excuse for a team of mostly upperclassmen to be playing this poorly through the first 3 1/2 games of the season.

Yeah, AW needs to keep shooting until he finds his stroke. Putting him on the bench won't do anything. Do people think he's not trying to make the shot? What would extra motivation serve?

They do, but that's why us beating USC would not be a tournament resume builder. Just because they are from the Pac 10 doesn't mean they are good. So this should be a game we should be able to win, but it would not vault us into the NCAA Tournament either. Duke looks like the only game on our schedule that would do us a lot of good if we were by some miracle to win.

Having said all this though, I will be happy with a split this weekend, but it would certainly look better if we could beat a BCS team, no matter how mediocre they might be. Our problem is shooting, and it is almost scary bad how bad we look at times. I will most certainly not blame the coaching staff for lack of fundamentals on this team when it comes to shooting and rebounding because I don't know for sure how much time they spend running shooting and rebounding drills in practice. But I would think they would allocate a considerable amount of time for this as most teams do, unless proven otherwise. But for some reason we have players that still can't shoot a beach ball into the ocean sometimes!

Our defense looks good, but we can't just neglect the other side of the ball just because we changed our emphasis this year. What's a shame here is that if we score just an average amount of points that would be considered optimum for winning teams, we could win games by a more confortable margin than we have. And I have a feeling we will lose some winnable games because of this, unless things turn around quickly.
