there's 290 Division I teams (based on RPI) who have figured out a way to recruit players that can play better than us...
most recruit kids out of high school and develop them and others supplement with an occasional juco or transfer.
We have zero local kids, a large number of juco kids, and several transfers or other kids who flopped somewhere else.
I know recruiting is hard but we've missed badly way too many times bringing in kids who are run right out again, are ineligible, and then not even offering the top D-I kids right in our back yard.

I think thats why alot of fans quit going to games - I think this will be Fords last season in Peoria -- I would love to see a Versace type coach again

I have not heard any word but I would be extremely surprised if he is cleared as a mid-season transfer
I do not speak for IHSA but their own rules do address this situation...

Here are rules that pertain - from IHSA

"If you transfer after classes begin for the
current school term, you will definitely be
ineligible for thirty days from the date you
start attending classes at the new high
school. In addition, you will be ineligible
for that entire school term in any sport in
which you engaged in any team activity,
including but not limited to tryouts, drills,
physical practice sessions, team meetings,
playing in a contest, etc. at the school from
which you transferred.
For example, if you
were out for cross country at the school
from which you transfer and transfer after
the IHSA sport season has begun, you
will be ineligible for cross country that
entire school term at the new school."

Thus, barring an unprecedented granting of a waiver from this rule, there's no way
he could be eligible to play basketball until at least fall of 2015

Plus as seen below - there are even qualifying rules on transfers that could even keep him ineligible beyond that...
http://www.ihsa.org/documents/forms/2013-14/elgrules_lg_1314.pdf

Both principals - from the schools he transferred from and to - must sign off on the transfer form as does IHSA before he is eligible

Principals’ Concurrence Regarding Transfer:. Complete this document to document concurrence
with the student’s transfer by both the principal of the school from which the student transfers
(Sending School) and the principal of the school into which the student transfers (Receiving School).
This is a requirement of By-law 3.041. If you, as the receiving principal, experience any delay in
obtaining the sending school principal’s approval, contact the sending school and try to prompt their
response. If there is a further delay, notify the IHSA Office immediately and we will intervene on the
student’s behalf. Note: A student is not eligible to participate in an interscholastic contest until
the Principals’ Concurrence Regarding Transfer Form is fully executed by both principals and
is on file in the offices of the school to which the student transfers.

I doubt AJ was the one that wanted this, and would have played out the season at Morton - his dad is a jackass and is ruining the kids life

I would grant that his family knows a lot about basketball - so maybe there are reasons behind this we do not know about

AJ Youngman was waiting for the IHSA ruling on his eligibility at Manual after the transfer from Morton HS.
He had requested a "hardship" waiver to play immediately but on Friday, the IHSA denied that waiver, and Youngman has been ruled ineligible to play basketball this year and would have to wait to play next year.
AJ has been at many of the home Bradley games.

Should have stuck it out at Morton --- What a waste

I would give the kid the benefit of the doubt - he's certainly not the first area kid to transfer and won't be the last..

Still missing a season because his dad and the coach (and possibly other players parents) were at odds -- not his fault, but the adults need to grow up

Is he not only a Sophmore still? Only Seniors are allowed to receive recruiting coaches. Is that not a violation? I will be forwarding this info onto the NCAA and let them decide if this is a violation

You are correct, a recruitable athlete may not have off-campus contact with a Division I college coach until July 1st after their junior year (or June 15th for a Division II coach).
http://colsoc.com/Portals/0/NCAA+Recruiting+Rules.pdf

But for the record, the athlete can meet with college coaches on campus if they comply with the unofficial visit rules (3rd page of the above link)
