The first of 4 games today (Thursday 7/21) has finished-

2 teams from the South Regional played at 2:00 PM Eastern (1:00 PM Central):
#8 seed Trained to Go beat #5 seed TMD
Trained to Go 85 TMD 74 (former BU recruit and Ole Miss star Marshall Henderson played for TMD)

The 4:00 PM Eastern game is now underway between 2 teams from the Northeast regional- #1 seed City of Gods vs. #5 seed FOE

With about 8 minutes left in the game, City of Gods leads FOE 72-61 (FOE, which stands for Family Over Everything, has several former Kansas players, City of Gods has quite a few D1 stars from the Northeastern US))

In game 2- City of Gods maintained a comfortable lead for the 2nd half, and pulled away for an easy 99-83 win over FOE to advance to the quarterfinals.

The 3rd game starts at 7 PM Eastern between 2 teams from the Northeast Region- #2 Boeheim's Army vs. #3 Untouchables.

I guess a part of me is happy to see Marshall Henderson go 1-9 and be gone from the tourney-
he can get hot on occasion and beat a team all by himself...

Box score-
#3 The Untouchables 91
#2 Boeheim's Army 84
https://www.flickr.com/photos/138620512@N04/28462030915/

Boeheim's Army, a team loaded with ex-Syracuse stars (and one ex-Purdue player) did not shoot real well, while The Untouchables (made up of a bunch of ex-Pitt players and a few others) shot a little better, rebounded well, and was able to solve the Syracuse-style zone that Boeheim's Army played most of the time. They actually switched to a man-to-man, something Jim Boeheim would never do, when The Untouchables kept getting open threes. The Untouchables got virtually no offense from their big inside guys, but they got 88 of their 91 points from their guards and wing players.

The 4th and final game of the day has started- it is between #2 seed Overseas Elite, the winner of the $1 Million Dollar Championship prize last year, and made up of various ex-college players who have made a living playing overseas, vs. #3 Ram Nation, made up almost entirely of Ex-VCU players.
Overseas Elite is pulling away from Ram Nation late in the 1st half- score Overseas Elite 38 Rams Nation 25 with 4 minutes left in the first half.
The game is on ESPN2.

looks like they desperately needed to get the ball into Zach's hands more...
he was 3-5 while their guards were 4-24 from the 3-pt arc!!
Their poor outside shooting killed them.

oops...game over-
Team Utah knocks off A Few Good Men...
93-81 -- made 3-pointers were the difference - a guy on Utah named Tom Drisdom hit 7-3pointers

Utah's Tim Drisdom, a 6'3" guard who played at Utah, had 21 points on 7-9 three pointers. The leading scorer was former Utah player Justin Hawkins with 27 points.
Team Utah will play Team Colorado tomorrow.
David Stockton, the only "Ringer" in the tournament, who played for A Few Good Men, did not help the Gonzaga Alumni.

Here is the box score from the A Few Good Men - Team Utah game-

As noted above, The Ringer chosen by the A Few Good Men team (Gonzaga alumni) was David Stockton, who played a few games in the NBA and spent time in the D-League. But his addition may have hurt the team more than helped. He obviously had little time to practice with the team. He played 15 minutes, shot just 1-5 from the floor (his only make was an unguarded layup at the end of the game), he was 0-1 from three, had 0 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 turnovers. Their starting point guard and former Chicago Bulls player, Jeremy Pargo, lead the Gonzaga alumni with 34 points.
