Nick Collins is now issuing a profuse apology - even admitting that if the player had used a racial slur it still didn't justify
his actions, and the Milwaukee TV station that claimed they had footage of the Bears fans spitting and using racial spurs
has released their video but it shows only that Collins' threw his spit-soaked mouthpiece at the men in the stands.
(video accessable on Youtube)
The fans may have been drunk, and maybe nobody really knows what they said, but as I suspected,
there still isn't a bit of evidence anyone spit or anyone used the "N" word - given that a large number of Bears players are of the same minority race.
As I view the video -- the camera follows Collins off the field and into the tunnel -- and absolutely NOTHING is seen coming from the stands - and the camera has a pretty wide angle of view pointed right at Collins -- so it's not possible to say with 100% certainty but there definitely is NOT spitting seen -- and had there been spitting, then either Collins or one of the other many people in the walk-way would have reacted in some way to fit that scenario! Instead...Collins walks right on by and only after 2-3 more steps, he turns around comes back, looks up and starts shouting, grabbing his mouthpiece, and throws it -- then the camera turns to the Bears fans -- who at that point were already walking away from the rail!
So, Collins reacts to a couple Bears fans leaning over a rail at least 10 to 15 feet away from where he was....why should he even care what someone that far away on the other side of a wall and a rail is saying??
But honestly, read the words of a few whiney Packer players in the first link below -- what a bunch of crybabies...
"The fans are taking it too far," Driver said. "This is a game where we
go out here and we try to have fun playing it. I think the fans are taking it
too far when they start talking about you, your family. They don't know your
family. And they started talking about personal things.
...You get frustrated, especially after you lose a game. And you react. I just
think the fans need to be more respectful to what we do."

oh my...bad, bad fans.........they really should all be like the ones in Green Bay..or Milwaukee...
oh wait, isn't Milwaukee where a fan once heckled Charles Barkley so much, that Barkley punched the guy in the face and broke his nose??
And isn't Milwaukee where fans and even the players have oft beaten up on and slugged their own team's mascots??
