Bradley ties in the 3rd courtesy of a couple errors

then a SF by Mangeri and a 2 run homer by Garon put Bradley up 4-1!!!

Bradley swept the rest of the series in Texas to return home 2-1...
too bad the bullpen meltdown keeps them from starting the season 3-0
Bradley's Luke Mangieri batted .500 (5-10) on the weekend, and both he and Brendan Dougherty have OB pct of .600 or more.


The MVC as a conference went 17-7 on the weekend

Bradley is 3-3
Sam Houston State (Bearkats) are 5-4 (4-4 at home) - hitting only .223 as a team (only 3 of their starters are hitting over .200 and none over .294), but they have a 2.85 team ERA!
They are coming off an excellent 42-22 season in which they won their conference and their tournament and went to the NCAA Tournament as a #3 seed but lost twice to ranked Arizona.
They have a pitcher, Heath Donica, who got a lot of accolades...

This year in his senior season, Donica has started two games thus far is almost unhittable..
He has pitched 16 innings, has an ERA of 0.56, has given up only one run and only FIVE HITS in those 16 innings.
But here's the most eye-popping stat...in his 16 innings pitched he's got 25 strikeouts & only 5 walks with opponents hitting only .098 against him
 
Bradley loses 7-1 to Sam Houston State and drops to 3-4
Their stud Heath Donica goes 7 innings, strikes out 8, walks none, and gives up no earned runs
 
Bradley baseball clobbers ISU 13-3
...and with games against last place ISU Saturday and Sunday - it's a chance for Bradley baseball to get their MVC record above .500 (Bradley is currently 3-4 in the MVC and 17-18 overall with 4 of the wins over non-DI's)
Even with the win, Bradley is 7th in the eight team MVC.

With Wichita leaving the MVC - then it's likely that MVC baseball gets weaker in the years ahead...
Despite some recent successes, Bradley's overall MVC record in the past 8 years is 55-119 ... we gotta do better consistently
 
there hasn't been much sign of improvement this year...
Bradley drops to 5-14 in MVC play losing their 10th in their last 11 games & with just 2 games left in the regular season - we're pretty much locked in on 7th seed.
Elvis Dominguez' nine year record is now...211-252-1 overall & 57-129 in the MVC.
I have heard all the claims of improvement, success, etc... but just don't see it.
Gotta recruit some pitching...wonder if Mke Dunne has any eligibility left

Baseball is having a disappointing season, currently 19-29, and 5-14 in the MVC. They are in 7th place out of 8 teams.

This is 9th season under the current coach.
Here are the records-
2009 17-31 – 4-17 - 9th place in MVC
2010 20-32 – 5-14 - 8th
2011 22-32 – 4-17 – 8th
2012 27-27-1 – 8-13 – 7th
2013 17-31 – 2-19 – 8th
2014 24-27 – 5-16 – 7th
2015 36-21 – 10-11 – tied for 3rd
2016 29-21 – 11-9 – 3rd
2017 19-29 – 5-14 – 7th out of 8 teams with 2 more games left, then MVC tournament

No championships of any kind. Never finished higher than 3rd, and only finished higher than 7th twice, perhaps partly due to the MVC being weaker after 2013 with the loss of Creighton.


Softball has not been stellar either.
The softball team finished 21-32 and 7-19 in the MVC. They finished in last place out of 10 MVC teams. They missed the MVC tournament, so their season is done.

Career 186-288 - 91-141 in 9 seasons

Not a single season with a winning overall record in 9 seasons. Never finished higher than 4th.

Hopefully, we can see improvement in the coming years.
 
It is time for a new baseball coach. He is a carryover from the JG era and was given a chance to succeed. He has not. Bradley baseball should always be competitive. They have a nice baseball field, good tradition. There is plenty of talent around the area and State. They should be doing a lot better
 
if the standard of success is one winning season every 5-6 years...
or one single post-season appearance, or a top 6 MVC finish once a decade...
then I think JG & MC owe JL a huge apology...
