Bradley branding and mascot

correct - the Chief's Club changed to the Braves Club about 5 years ago - just further effort to wipe out any reference to anything "Native American"

btw - spoke with a friend who is in the business locally of screen printing T-shirts, logos, and selling apparrel & memorabilia...
and he said a few things about Bradley's new logos but I will only repeat a few of them...
..they are rather simplistic, and that extremely few people have inquired about items with the new logo - a noticable difference from when a school usually creates a new logo and there's an initial surge of interest and people wanting to buy...

he suggested that if BU want's their logo to identify the school better - especially with people who do not instantly know where we are located, that we should have included some reference in the logo like these people do...

I don't know how much it matters, but as a point, all of those schools are public state universities.

Do any private institutions use the state in which they are located in their logo?

I don't know about having the state included, but a ton of private schools jazz up their logos with something other than just a letter-

Honestly you guys here much have way too much time to burn. I really do not care nearly that much what our logo, mascot or name is as our lack of winning. Gonzaga uses a G and Butler uses a B for the most part. Without looking ot up does anyone know what Gonzaga's mascot is? Butler has a bulldog for crying out loud. The only tradition I want to be known for is WINNNING! Mascots for the most part is a great marketing vehicle to sell merchandise and some branding. I guess this distraction takes us from the fact that our program is in a re-building mode.

BTW...Have any of you ever heard of a recruit say that they chose a school over another because of the mascot? I didn't think so.

Actually, Butler's logo is not a "B" at all. Their logo prominently features the Bulldog, with or without the block Butler name-

Also, Gonzaga's logo is also never just a "G".
It is a GU, or a block "Gonzaga University", but never without the menacing bulldog.

Both are Bulldogs? Maybe we should be The Bradley Bulldogs! That maybe the difference between winning and losing?

AZ I'm waiting for your response!

These types of logos were shown at the focus groups. There were a few really good looking versions with a gargoyle wrapped around the shield.

on a topic that's related to hostile & abusive...

one of the nation's LEADING Lacrosse equipment manufacturers is taking heat...

first - because their name is Warrior...but also because a certain slogan they have been using included the phrase...
"ninja" ..which activists are claiming is just a disguised form of the word ni**er" - (a slur against Blacks) - ...

so has anyone else ever heard of that???
.."ninja" is an intentional effort to insult Blacks ?? Seems to me people try way too hard to find something offensive!

I'm familiar with Warrior, as they're also manufacturers of hockey equipment. As for the Ninja thing, I've never heard anything like that.

I thought you were going to say there were a group of Japanese who find it insulting. I'd tell whoever came up with that nonsense to stick up their @$$. I believe there are groups of people who are just complainers and are always looking for things to gripe about.

The word Ninja is clearly not offensive. But read the article.

The Warrior ad says "Ninja, please" next to the picture of a black Lacrosse player. Anyone with a modest knowledge of pop culture knows that's a play on the common Ni@@a, please.

*Best players seem to be African Americans from the east/southeast/south
*Would think fish for dinner and fishing would appeal to these recruits
*BU being on the Illinois River with plenty of Asian carp to catch and pan fry, should be a big recruiting advantage for BU

Therefore, I propose

Fighting Carp as BU's new mascot/logo

Here it is!

th
BU Fighting Carp

May have to touchup the color a bit...
.......

I like that name for a mascot, only I'd go with the Flyin' Carp.
But I am not sure too many of the kids from Chicago ever do much fishing.
