It doesn't have to be a mascot, but I do think we need to do some rebranding with a logo.
Yes, I can hear it now...
More Flying Squirrel references
If there is anything that the team doesn't need right now, it's a pointless distraction like this. Cripes.

It would have to be something really sharp and simple to convince me that our current logo should go after almost 20 years.
With no actual mascot -- which we should NOT create just to have one -- generating any logo different than the one we have will be tough.
As mentioned in the other thread, we should focus on winning and presenting ourselves to our alumni and others through the internet.
Winning and making the NCAA will make that logo look a lot better! Just ask Creighton who uses an orange basketball and the word JAYS as their logo. Nobody complaining about that.
No disagreement there. If our logo was synonymous with winning, no one would care!
We could do more with merchandising though. BU just really has nothing to offer in that regard. That's no a basketball or athletics thing, but more of a university/marketing thing.

I like the chief justice mascot idea. Sounds fun.
One question in general, since you mentioned it, why against a name change in particular. I understand the tradition angle and I like the braves name... But, we can't use the name for much of anything anymore, so if a great idea came along, I'd personally at least explore the idea.

Agreed 100%. When you simply but our logo on really quality merchanise it looks great. The bookstore has made some nice strides there.
The problem is that the university and the bookstore (Barnes & Noble?) work against one another as they don't let the bookstore set anything up at the games or Chiefs Club events, etc. Then they don't do anything of quality themselves.
