Bu 56 WC 54

I do not think that Milos should have been on the floor at that time. So far, I have not seen anything that warrants giving Milos significant minutes. I hope that I am proven wrong and Milos starts to make significant contributions. fwiw, Milos will make meaningful contributions as a Brave... maybe not this year!

I didn't get the impression that Milos being in the game for that stretch entirely helped Wofford's run. I'll have to re-watch the game though.

Someone has to spell Taylor, and I'm guessing the coaches feel Milos can do that. He hasn't done much yet while in-game, but I think we've got to give him the opportunity to do that.

Regarding why Milos might be subbing for Taylor instead of Thompson, is it because the team would have to play completely different with Thompson in the 4 position than with Brown due to different skill-sets? Milos and Taylor probably share similar skill-sets. I don't know. I'm just a fan with little practical b-ball experience. :)

That frist half was brutal for both teams. Thank goodness for Taylor. The first 12 minutes of the 2nd half I think showed what this team is capable of though I would have liked for us to have put them away. Plus 8 in rebounds and plus 5 in assists to tournover ratio helped us overcome our poor shooting. Hopefuuly we can use this win to contiue to lay the foundation for success.

I liked the win tonight but there are some concerns"
We cannot afford to have T.Brown get into foul trouble
McCain needs to start playing a lot better
Warren needs to want to take the game over more on offense
coach Les cannot keep over substituting as once again tonight we had a nice run going and he brought 3 players in around the 8 min. mark
Maniscalco and McCain both struggle when they are on the court at the same time

I thought that our substitution patterns were very good tonight with the exception of the 7 minute mark toward the end of the game. That is basically when Wofford made their run. I do not think that Milos should have been on the floor at that time. So far, I have not seen anything that warrants giving Milos significant minutes. Again there were a lot of positives tonight. It was obvious that the team went through some rebounding drills this week. A very nice TEAM win with a lot of positives to build on for the season.

Our boys have to play 4 games in 7 days. I think that largely explains the substitution pattern. It was close, but we won. And I want our prime time players as fresh as possible in Vegas!

I agree with many of your points, however, McCain did have nearly a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio with 5 assists, 4 big rebounds, and 1 steal in limited minutes. Not too bad. :) Like you, I wish he would develop more confidence in his shot and scoring ability on the drive. Teams will scout this and just lay off him as the season wears on.

I agree on the over substituting. Can we for once just blow somebody out, like the team on the floor was doing, when we get the chance? I don't agree with the argument 4 games in 7 days. These are all young men in great shape and the Braves so far aren't a run and gun team scoring 100 points a game.

We're going to be playing 4 games in 7 days, maybe not terrible in and of itself. Now, add in our guys are still in school, taking tests, and doing assignments, while the others are on vacation, just focusing on bbally and prep. Not mention the travel. And we are not as deep as U of I, or OKSU. You don't have to agree with it, and can say these guys are in great shape, but it definitely takes it toll. I used to have to run 13+ miles a day everyday for conditioning in soccer, and back to back games would take a toll on my body, and I had HS on cruise control so I didn't have class to worry about. Overall, its not about the running, its about the mental and physical punishment that kind of schedule takes on your body. OKSU and U of I are both big teams, and they will be physical.

There were times tonight that I felt that EM was shaking off his slump a little. That being said, I want Sam at the point when it is crunch time.

If Milos were to develop some more, Milos for TB would be the perfect substitution. --and to be honest, I don't mind that substitution in the first half.... But when it comes to closing out the game, I think that we need a team on the floor that is capable of some offense....and imo, that part of Milos'game has been lacking to date.

All that may be true, but just once I would like to blow out a good team and I believe we played a good team tonight. Of course, it's Jim's team and there isn't a bigger Jim Les backer than myself. And we got a W.

BU played fast...those 4 in 7 days are going to be rough if we keep up that pace. I agree they are all young men who are tough and physically fit (the intro video can prove this)...but 4 physical games against deep O's will be tough.

Did anyone notice a lot of guards looking off their shots early on? I would like to think it was because we couldn't hit a 3 if lives depended on it (myself included during the BWW's challenge)...but shouldn't we be taking some of those shots?

also, WE was a beast this game...TB a somewhat larger beast

as for the PG argument...see the final 3 min. SM played...he knew EXACTLY waht to do at each play...good, smart, bball. I want that for a PG

I agree, and why are we holding the ball w/ 8 minutes left in the game?

3 minutes left makes sense but 8?! That in and of itself killed our momentum and allowed Wofford to work their way back into the game.

I felt like their were 3 players tonight that separated themselves:

-Taylor (my PoG)
-Will (proved just like I said that if given the touches, he IS the real deal)
-CRob (always shows up on BOTH ends of the floor)

That being said, the rest looked lost in parts of the game....

It was hard to say w/ DSE because he handled the ball great, got it down to the high and low post, and had one absolutely amazing rebound

Andrew played well in spurts, but did not once look to put the team on his back, something a star should look to do.

Sammy had one of his not so usual off games on the offensive end, however, he did a great job distributing the ball (5/1) and I can only recall 1 forced shot. He also had 7 rebounds.

Thompson looked much better tonight, but he still has work to do on positioning and defense. But yes, he was much better.

McCain just kills me because he can give you great ball handling and he'll go in and mix it up and get a few boards, BUT we can NOT have him in a game with other non-scorers and we can NOT have him and Sammy in a game together...EVER!

My starting lineup for Tue:

-Roberts
-Brown
-Egolf
-Warren
-Maniscalco

Also, because we're playing a much lesser team this will be the time to get certain guys more PT or to get ready for Fri. I expect DSE, Thompson, and Milos to have more minutes if at all possible.

That said, can we PLEASE for all of humanity, stop oversubbing, and PLEASE if we build a big lead, keep the same core in for awhile and sub one at a time?!

Only 4 words needed to sum up this game. No Brown, No Win. Granted everyone made key plays but Brown had half our points for about the first 12 minutes of the game. Not to mention his extra boards that have been missed the first 2 games.

-Good adjustments overall on the poor inside D in the 1st half, but then that left many open perimeter shots. Need to get quicker on the inside outside D.

-Lets work on the 3 point shooting against Presbyterian, then get ready for 2 of the 3 toughest non-conference games we have left.

SM at least can score when it's necessary or the opportunity presents itself.

If SM starts taking smart shots, I will jump on his bandwagon. But jacking up a contested 3 4 to 5 seconds into a possession, as possession in which SM did not make a pass, as he did at one point in the first half, does not make me overly happy. I am not saying he is not clutch, nor am I saying he is not our best option at point guard, however if you have a good look then take the shot. If not, pass the ball.
