BU 61 vs. UMKC 73

Nope

Nope

Sure.....but can we please stop "waiting" for AW to return?

It looks to me that he is going to be pretty important to this team because we have no offensive identity. If Wilkins still comes, no matter what shape he is in, he should play right away. Tonight was pretty pathetic, but I am going to reserve my anger for a couple weeks. Playing without you best player for a large amount of time can build great team chemistry. We just need a leader out there and possibly a lineup that is consistent. All in all you want to lose early too good teams and not FREAKING UMKC. Not good. I really think this is going to be a good team, but they are going to look bad for awhile against some inferior teams and allow me to say Michigan St is around the corner. Play defense like they did tonight and MSU will beat them by 50.

Not good. Can't beat that zone using the bigs or the 3-pointers. An ugly mess, just about any way I can look at it. Thought WE looked okay in his minutes... That's about the only positive thing I can think of. I think we should adopt the UMKC superflop defense if the same refs have any of our other games in the tourney. The refs were bad, but Bradley was worse in this one. Missing DRuff and JC a lot right now.

Athletic talent is there, but we have not performed the required gelling action, or something like that. There were times vs. Florida where we looked very good, so I still have some hope, but I think it's going to be way up and down for a few games yet.

This team had a full week to prepare for this game...that may be the most concerning point here.
This coaching staff had to know that we were going to face a zone for the entire week down in Florida...yet we came out in the first half and looked completely baffled. Turning the ball over 16 times in the first half against a smaller, less athletic team playing exclusively zone against you is simply unacceptable...especially when the coaching staff had a full week to prepare the team to play against a zone...

That's a little harsh and uncalled for as of right now. We still are 3 games only into the season with our leaders either not playing or not playing well...

We probably won't be very good until the conference season or maybe the entire season...but the worst team ever?

Question for you. . .and be honest. . .how much of a difference do you see AW making in either of the two losses?

What trauma are you referring to?

And am I the only one who would like to see a more traditional lineup?

I would personally like to see a basketball player who can shoot a basketball into the basket on a more then a few times a game basis. I do not care who plays I want to see some production, JL needs to find 5 guys who want to play together.

One week to prepare and this is what JL puts out on the court... UNACCEPTABLE.

It's all good and well to call for a more traditional line-up, but we simply don't have the players to do it.

Not to mention that I don't think it would fix anything anyway, but that's a whole other issue.

I disagree. I think AW would have made quite a difference on the offensive side of the ball in THIS game. With him and SM out there with the ability to make 3s, you could have moved the ball around enough to create a shot or get a double out on the perimeter so someone could drive open. I'm not sure if we could have won with the defensive woes we had, but it would have made our offense quite a lot better.

I think a healthy AW makes a huge difference on both ends of the court...how long before he is really healthy.....who knows?

I'd be fine seeing five players who gel on the floor simultaneously as well, Houston...

And amettrick: I think we are better suited to a traditional lineup than a run/gun/jack errant threes lineup. Maybe throw AT or WE at the four, wilson at the three, warren at the two... just SEE what happens instead of bashing our heads against the wall with a system geared towards a team with sharshooters.

The difference between ignorance and stupidity is repetition.

Just as a side question... What's up with TW's threes? He even taken one this year?

It's strange. You can tell no one's confident with the 3, as they're passing over quite a few open shots out there.

Oh, and while we're here:

*pop*

I have giving away all your margin for error for the NCAA bubble in a freakin' November game against a conference who'll kill our RPI (even if UMKC is actually a good team and will win their conference)

I would be all in favor of redshirting Warren this year...
I don't see how this team is going to put it all together with so many new players and guys that are simply not ready to contribute...
This team doesn't appear to be one player away from contending for the Valley title this year, and Warren doesn't appear to be anywhere close to being 100%, so redshirt him and hope some of the newbies develop over the next two years...

You're right, barring something like an MSU win or a conference season sweep (both seem a tad unlikely)... The only way to overcome that would be if the team does look night and day different when Warren returns... OR if Wilkins is able to play and makes that big of a difference.

Yeah....it really doesn't matter if anyone thinks AW is the answer to this team's problems. I'm not sure anyone really knows when he will be able to give us consistent minutes again, so I am not counting on him suddenly fixing everyone else's mistakes whenever he does return to the lineup.

I agree 100%. I know people don't want to use AW's absense as an excuse and it shouldn't be one. We should have been able to win without him, but at the same time, we have to remember he IS our best player. Anytime a team is without it's best player and top scorer, it's going to look like a whole different team.

Is everyone forgetting how pathetic we looked against UNI last year when DRuff went down with the hernia? That game feature a 9-point first half by the Braves, and this team certainly performed better than that today.

I still think this team should be able to win without AW, especially against the likes of UMKC, but you can't ignore the fact that his absense makes a big difference.
