BU 61 vs. UMKC 73

That loss is horrible!!This team will not be in contention for any mvc championship with or without Andrew...After seeing SIU this weekend we are way behind schedule with this team
and it could be a long year possible thursday night game in St Louis!!!

This team is bad. When are we going to hold Les accountable, this team is the worst team in BU history.

This is the most embarassing game I have ever watched. Jim didn't make any excusses in the post game... He couldn't, UMKC has 8 new player who all looked like they knew what they were doing. No one, absolutly no from BU looked like they had a clue. Jim said this was the best group he has had, he is only trying to sell tickets. He would not know a BB player from a frisby flipper.

It's all good and well to call for a more traditional line-up, but we simply don't have the players to do it.

Not to mention that I don't think it would fix anything anyway, but that's a whole other issue.

Setting aside AW's "comeback," it will have a pretty big impact on the lineup.
AW as the 3. gets others to play off the bench and have that be their primary role.

There's no excuse for this loss...it was bad. BU should've been able to win that game.

i'm looking forward to AW coming back (any news on when taht'll be?). but that should not be the excuse for this loss

TAS,

I don't know that we need to look at the NCAA ramifications for Bradley right now. I know that's not even in my thought process. I'm just hoping for a vastly improved team in February vs. where they are now. I'm sure there is going to be plenty more shots to the "resume" between now and then. The team is just going to have to ignore that part of it and focus on getting better....a lot better.

I don't believe Wilson has the ball handling skills to play the three.

I haven't seen a lot of "point forward" out of our team this season... And the way he handles it taking it to the hole.. I just don't believe that he lacks handling abilities. I think that's a coaching excuse to play small ball and stick him at the four.

I'd be fine seeing five players who gel on the floor simultaneously as well, Houston...

And amettrick: I think we are better suited to a traditional lineup than a run/gun/jack errant threes lineup. Maybe throw AT or WE at the four, wilson at the three, warren at the two... just SEE what happens instead of bashing our heads against the wall with a system geared towards a team with sharshooters.

The difference between ignorance and stupidity is repetition.

I was about to post that we certainly arent playing as a TEAM! I also have favored a more traditional lineup for qute some time.... It is time to get rid of the three guard lineup that cant hit a three!

I would be all in favor of redshirting Warren this year...
I don't see how this team is going to put it all together with so many new players and guys that are simply not ready to contribute...
This team doesn't appear to be one player away from contending for the Valley title this year, and Warren doesn't appear to be anywhere close to being 100%, so redshirt him and hope some of the newbies develop over the next two years...
I have had the redshirt idea as well. The more games AW misses, the more a medical redshirt makes sense.

I disagree. I realize putting TW at the three doesn't mean he'll be bringing the ball up court and playing "point forward." I'm not sure what you're seeing, but on the occasions that TW does handle the ball on the perimiter, I see sloppy ball handling skills that would lead to a lot of turnovers if he were to play there on a consistent basis. Because TW is athletic and only 6'5, you see someone who should be playing the traditional small forward role, but I think his skill set is much more like an undersized power forward, so that's where JL plays him and thats where I think he belongs.

I've seen a very diverse skill set from Theron... One that I think is well-suited to two, maybe three positions... That versatility is remarkable, and I think he should be utilized at the three AND the four... However, when our team has a measure of size and can't shoot, I don't think it'd hurt to go big and shuffle him to the three.

Partially agree with Warren Red Shirt thing.....

Partially agree with Warren Red Shirt thing.....

I have no idea to the extent of the injury, if it is bad or something they are not sure he can play on for awhile, why the hell not....red shirt him. If they are making sure he can play, then let him play. ****, this nagging injury could last a whole season and they would just through out a year of his service. I have no idea what is going on. I am not close to anybody that gets insider information, but as the night goes on I get more pissed due to the fact that we just lost to FREAKING UMKC. And it WASN'T EVEN CLOSE!!!!!

I have had the redshirt idea as well. The more games AW misses, the more a medical redshirt makes sense.

I just don't want this injury to linger all the way into the conference season...and then have the team rush AW back as a desperate move to try and salvage the season...and then end up playing most of the conference season with an out of shape Warren that can't be an effective player for us...

He showed some real signs of developing into an impact player last year...I'd hate to waste a year of his eligibility if it looks like he may not get back to 100% until very late in the year...I'd rather have the chance of having Andrew 100% for two full seasons rather than risking it and hoping he can help us out near the end of the year this season.

no offense to Sam M. but he didn't have any business being on the floor today...

Everytime he was out top defending the UMKC coach cleared the lane and forced an iso and Sam got beat every single time, yet we continuously allowed them to do it...and no, it was not just Sam, but he was a glaring weakness...Especially when you had him, Eddren, and Sam S. on the floor at the same time, basically laying all our offense and defense on Dodie and Theron.

I thought Theron played well until he got into foul trouble, and Chris played well in spurts...other than that, not too much to be happy about...

I can now w/ great confidence say that we are going to have to change the system...this team is not a great 3-pt shooting team nor will they be, and they certainly can not play tight man to man defense as proven by all the layups we have given up the first 3 games...

The sooner the coach realizes this, the better...If Sam is still trying to play guys into their shorts and we're still jacking up 20+ threes a game in March we will undoubtedly be near the bottom third of the Valley.

At some point the coaching staff will need to take a long look in the mirror and go back to the drawing board and realize that we need to play to our strengths by minimizing our weaknesses, and that is by driving the ball to the basket, taking less 3's, and by changing to a zone implemented team, or at least not playing guys so tight that every opponent takes one step off the dribble and blows by them.

The excuse of being young and inexperienced does not fly...UMKC is younger...and the excuse of our guys not being ready will not fly...they should've been fully prepared to play today...

That being said...I'm absolutely SICK of this lineup...Theron needs to move to the 3 PERIOD! We should NEVER and I mean NEVER have Sam M. and Eddren on the floor at the same time...EVER! All of this crap about the guards this the guards that....the GUARDS are getting DOMINATED! Plain and simple we need to go to a bigger lineup!

At this point, I would state that everyone's spot in the rotation including the starting lineup is up for grabs...If that wouldn't light a fire under them, I'm not certain anything would...the only players deserving of their minutes they are getting at this point are Dunson, Wilson, and Singh....Collins would be sitting at the end of the bench...I am 110% certain at this point that if Will got his minutes he would produce close to what Collins does offensively, AND he wouldn't let his man score double what he does...

I'm thoroughly disappointed in the effort by some players and mainly by the coaching staff...things need to be changed...and unfortunately they are not minor things

Sometimes when things fail its the players failing the system...and sometimes its the system that is corrupt...

What we really need to ask is, which one is it?

Amen. Perfectly said, st. louis.

Anything less than a complete shuffle after this kind of start is nothing short of arrogance on the part of our leadership.

Here's the box score...ugly...
3-17 from 3...17%...yikes.
Collins had 1 point in 12 invisible, passive minutes.
23 turnovers against a team that played zone all game long is horrid.
Taylor Brown didn't seem to bring us the same spark tonight that he has in previous games.

And here I thought I was the critical one.....
For people who thought BU would be good out of the gate, you were living in a dream world.
It's going to take us until late Dec to see how good we are and we have a ways to go.
Personally I have never been high on DC...small flashes of brilliance can happen to a 7footer...we need more. Maybe he will get better but at times it seems he doesn't really care to.

These early losses are not the worst thing in the world. Finishing in the lower part of the league would be.
Hopefully we get things figured out in the next 5 weeks or so and finish well.

UMKC lost at home to North Dakota and got blown out the other night by Florida Atlantic. Yet they are 2-0 against the MVC. Unbelievable. UMKC will not challenge for the Summit League title this season. There is no excuse.
