BU commitment- class of 2009- Dyricus Simms-Edwards

I don't want to get my hopes up, but this sounds pretty promising....

Then again, this is the same person that spread the rumor that Jonathan Wilkins was headed to Metamora....

The Wilkins story was immediately shot down by everyone close to his situation.

This report on DSE is consistent with what some Bradley insiders have also heard.

By the way- Stewart refers to Prosser and Simms-Edwards as favorites for the JS Small School Player of the Year, and JS Large School Player of the Year.
This year seems a little thin for D1 players in our area. Is there anyone other than these 2 kids who might be considerations for POY? Or are there any other potential D1 players in the area 2009 class? Maybe Billy Molinari? Zeke Schneider?

That's why I say he's a bit small to play the 2 and probably one reason why BU has 14 losses. Let's get some bigger athletes on the permiter. I know 6'5" guys with skills are in the B10.Other Mid Majors have them, let's get some. DSE would be a nice fit if he improves his ball handling and shooting because he could play both positions.

Why would he play the 2? He is a very good point and there's really no reason to change that...Edge and him can split minutes as they both bring a different style of play to the team.

try the link again, it seems to be working, but here's a clip of what's said...

"Could Bradley be getting both Journal Star Players of the Year in the same
recruiting class? Eureka's Jordan Prosser, a favorite for our small-school POY,
already is headed to Bradley. Recent developments indicate he could be
joined by Washington's Dyricus Simms-Edwards, a favorite for JS big-school
POY, who is shopping for a scholarship. Bradley is talking, and it appears DSE
is listening."

Thanks Tornado. Bradley is certainly guard heavy but everyone I have talked to said DSE would be a very good MVC player. I respect the opinions of these people. I say take him if you can get him.

tell me what you mean "guard heavy"?

do you mean we have too many or that we tend to play a lot of minutes with guards?

Because we have four guards presently who log more than about 12 mpg, and only ONE other guy who averages right at about 12...and one guy who's been sitting out a year.
Two (Dodie & CRob) will be gone at the end of 2009-2010...
so I wouldn't exactly say we are overstocked with guards....especially considering the injury experience we have had (DRuff, JC, Warren, now Dodie...etc.)
If we bring in one or two more kids for 2010, I would fully expect one to be a DS-E type player...athletic, etc....that's why BU wanted Varez Ward, Darius Smith, and Vee Sanford so much.

The other needs to be a 3-pt shooter, a guy who is money from downtown...that's why BU wanted Matt Roth, Kyle Kuric, Ryne Smith, etc...

The current roster has a lot of guards. DSE freshman year you would have McCain, Norris, Sam M., Warren, Roberts, and Dunson. DSE would make seven scholarship guards.

BU is lacking in the small forward, 6-5, 6-6 type guy similar to Theron. Obviously DSE sophomore year Dunson and Roberts would be gone so you would have McCain, Norris, Sam M., Warren and DSE for the three guard spots.

Again, I would like to get DSE if the staff can't find an athletic 6-5, 6-6 guy or a legit lights out shooter. I just dont think there would be a lot of playing time for the kid his freshman year. Not that it is a bad thing.

IMO...Given that we have Wilkins and Sean Harris coming here in the next couple of years, I think that a scholarship for DSE would be a good fit.

I didn't see him sitting where recruits normally sit so I'm not sure. I saw him walking through the corridor after the game.
