Bu mbb summertime activities

Does anyone know if all the returning Braves will be in Peoria for the summer working out (and possibly working summer jobs at the same time)?

What basketball practice/training activities does the NCAA allow returning players to be involved in during the summer/early fall?

Can the two new recruits, assuming MO signs his LOI, also head to Peoria this summer and practice/work out in whatever the NCAA allows?

Does the NCAA allow DS to have any informal bb contact with BU players?

Finally, any update on how AT, JP, DD are looking in the off-season? Are all the injuries players had last year healed up?

Yes, any student can participate in workouts as long as they are enrolled for the summer sessions.

I've seen AT, JP, and DD playing some pick up games with other guys from the team at Markin, and JP and DD are looking especially good (to me at least)

2-3 weekends ago I saw pretty much the whole team up at Markin for what I'm pretty sure was an "open gym" type thing. They got done with their games and started doin some pretty entertaining alley-oops and dunk stuff.

D.J. Richardson was there too.

Perhaps after we beat DJ last year, he decided to transfer back home to Bradley! ;-)

Only in my dreams.

Being an employee at Markin, I see the team there quite a bit. I know the guys were running their own open gyms in Haussler and they would come to Markin when they couldn't get the gym. The women's team was doing the same thing.

I would love to hear more about how JP was looking. He could be the difference maker next year if he steps up. Also is TB around, I have been a little nervous about him coming back after the year he had last year with trouble. He could be the MVC player of the year if he ..........

FWIW - and please, if you have a differeing opinion, fine, but don't take swipes...

there is some word from some observers that Jordan Prosser is impressive and quite possibly the most improved - but still may lack the killer instinct.....still working on it

That is good to hear, if he can give us something in the post this year, between WE, MO, JP we should be solid in the post.

How bout AT, will he be able to give us anything this year? It would be nice to have a post with some height and length at 6'10, with WE the tallest of the bunch at 6'9. Can we expect him to be improved enough to contribute?

If JP is a factor next year and MO can give us some minutes is our problems at the 5 behind us. I like this.....

JP at the 5
WE at the 4
TB at the 3
AW at the 2
SM at the 1

By the way, the bench would look pretty good as well.

What do you think?

I'm not gonna take swipes, and this isn't meant to be a rip on anyone, but for the times that I've been at Markin and watched some of the workouts and pickup games, I haven't necessarily been impressed by JP. He seems to be an incredibly hard worker, but also seems to lack a lot of tools that it takes to be a dominant big man. I would feel more comfortable with him playing the 4, and if we see significant minutes out of him this year, that will be a surprise to me at least. I can see him coming along in his junior and senior years, but right now I think its too early to count him as a significant factor for next years team. Again, this is just opinion based on observation.

That lineup would solve the rebounding problem and make a good bench, but I think it would be too slow. I don't think TB could cover a fast wing man and most teams play three guards.

That is what I have been saying, TB is a tremendous player, but I don't get the obsession with putting him at the 3. He has never played at the 3. Maybe in the future, but right now at least I don't feel he is good enough as a defender, ball-handler, or 3 point shooter to play the 3 when most teams play 3 guards or at least a SF with a perimeter skill set. Also I feel DD has to be out there to be our number 1 defender as I stated in the Dodie thread. I feel JP can be a strong back up 4 along with WE playing there sometimes too when we need to go big with 2 posts.

I put this lineup in the DD thread, it gives us time with 2 posts when we need to go big, if gives us length with 6'5 AW and 6'8 MK at the 3 spot without sacrificing a perimeter threat at the 3. AW is a good rebounder too. It gives us a number 1 defender in DD, gets the backups a good chunk of playing time, and makes us a dangerous 3 point shooter/fast breaking yet still strong defensive team. Without the final scholarship filled:

SM(25)/DSE(15)
DD(25)/JE(10)/DSE(5)
AW(25)/MK(8 )/WL(7)
TB(25)/JP(10)/WE(5)
WE(15)/MO(20)/AT(5)

Not that I know much, and I'm sure JL will put together the best lineup, but I like that. I think people want TB at the 3 because of rebounding, but I think AW and TB at the 3/4 are good rebounders. The problem was the 5 spot rebounding which being the biggest rebounding position made our whole team look bad at rebounding. I don't think TB at the 4 was the problem rebounding, you fix the 5 spot with an improved WE/MO/AT, I think you fix the whole problem.

man you guys keep doing what your doing .which is a whole lot speculation. bunch of arm chair coaches.

Thanks for that great insight and contribution. How dare people have fun during the offseason and "speculate" about their team for the upcoming year. Why don't we just shut down the website for the 8 months we don't play?
