BU recruit 2014- Josh Cunningham

Not sure what Roy says either, but the final five are......Creighton, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Bradley! So Roy is not tossing out anything new on DePaul!

I think there's evidence that we are still in strong with Josh Cunningham - but a few other schools' fans think likewise...
But all along, Cunningham has said he might not make his final decision until after his senior season (& so has his coach) --
then there's this comment that he might decide soon - LINK...so who knows...nothing really surprises any more..
..so right now he is enjoying the attention but if he waits & has a great year at Morgan Park - then we've all seen the frenzy that happens with the spring signing period and any school with unfilled scholarships..

If it is not available to everyone,

‏Indications are that Josh Cunningham will not visit Minnesota this weekend. May reschedule for Oct 18-19 to attend Maroon & Gold scrimmage.

@prepbullseye You have any feelings on his recruitment?

None that I haven't mentioned before--think Creighton, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Iowa St & Bradley are all still in play.

reports are that Josh Cunningham has cancelled other visits and eliminated a couple schools and is down to just Bradley, Iowa State, and Oklahoma..

He's being talked up at Oklahoma as the next coming of Wayman Tisdale,
and we all know Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg makes a living going after and playing undersized big men...
THREE of Iowa State's top four scorers last year were Clyburn (6-6), Niang (6-7), Ejim (6-6) - all three are quite similar to Josh Cunningham

but the mere fact he is still mentioning Bradley in the mix with those other two big schools makes me hopeful ...even tho we do have similar players as well...

I know that there are several factors going into the recruit's decision, but I never understand how many of these kids pick lower end schools in power conferences. There has to be some appeal to recruits to head to a school like Bradley where if you perform at a high level there are fewer hurdles for personal honors, and theoretically an easier path to the Tourney. Which in turn leads to more exposure. I am not saying that Cunningham would be POY in the Valley for 3 years, but look at the exposure kids like Korver got. There is a lesser chance of being recruited over, and a better chance of being the focus of the offense.

I get frustrated watching these Illinois kids going out of state to sit on a bench at a "Power Conference School". I know the kid does not plan on sitting on the bench. However, it happens more often than the Chicago advisers would like to admit.

Well said, and I agree. I have talked to coaches and recruiting people, most of who believe kids often shoot too high (the extraordinary increase in numbers of transfers suggests this). But there are some coaches who want to push their kids to take the highest level of offer, just so they can say "I got kids playing in the Big Ten". There are plenty of examples of kids who shoot too high then spend their careers as bench players.
Josh could very likely be a 4 year starter at Bradley.

BTW, just checking one of several Oklahoma hoops boards...here are a couple interesting comments from several Oklahoma fans-

Should make a decision in the next 2-3 weeks I think.

OU has a... shot to land him. Bradley and Iowa St are the 2 of the other strong suitors. He cancelled his trip to gopher land to take an official at Bradley.

....By the crystal ball it's 33% Minn, 33% OU and 33% Bradley. Hopefully that means one was taken out and we are competing against Bradley, which you would hope we would win, but you never know how distance plays a factor in some of these decisions.

Doesn't he still have to visit ISU? It's the Mayor I'm worried about...

Meyer just tweeted that Bradley is the team to beat. Bradley? Really?

a former coach at Cunningham's school is now at Bradley, but I don't think that will
be enough for them. He visits Iowa State this weekend
.

I have heard a report that Josh Cunningham will visit Iowa State this weekend, and he is their current #1 target.

Rashad Vaughn is our current number 1 target, but we have two scholarships available. Cunningham and Vaughn appear to be the top two targets to add to top 100 guard Clayton Custer to complete the class. Vaughn is visiting ISU officially on November 17th along with Marquette transfer Jameel McKay.

There has been next to nothing for info on Cunningham's impending visit to Ames.

Josh Cunningham is in Iowa City but tweets that he is not feeling well
He also has gone on record that Minnesota is not completely eliminated .. but he did cancel his visit there a week ago

you can speculate all you want on his reason - but just before he was to take his visit to Minnesota - they landed a commitment from a similar player named Josh Martin,
who the Minnesota newspaper described and concluded that there may be some intent to play Martin as a "wing forward"...LINK
the exact spot I believe Cunningham desires to play...maybe it was a factor

Three guys over on 247sports including Jerry Meyer recently made their Crystal Ball Predictions on where Mr. Cunningham will be attending school and all three predicted BRADLEY. There is one other prediction on there made last month for Minnesota. But hopefully there is some good buzz going around and Josh does end up in Peoria!
