BU schedule

The thing I'm most frustrated about, today;) Is that we were told last week that the MVC schedule might be released last Friday and then last Friday we were told it would probably be released this Tuesday or Wednesday but that didn't happen an now it's Friday and nothing. Not that it matters much, we all know the 9 teams we will play twice, but I'm just interested in what the sequence of games will be because last season we played some big games, at home, over the Holidays when most of the students were gone and I hope that doesn't happen again this season.

I could not agree more. I will not be pleased with ISU and SIU over the break again.

OK..its settled...NO student break this year.

Go BU.

Here's a comment I found regarding the holdup of the Valley schedule.....

"As of Thursday afternoon...(we still didn't have)...the men??™s basketball
schedule from the Missouri Valley Conference. Once the Valley gets it to the
schools, it generally takes a day or two for the schools to check things out,
approve it and release it.

The holdup in St. Louis is ESPN, which is still putting together its college
basketball lineup for this season. Looks like it will be next week at the
earliest."

* - Exhibition

I hope Western Carolina will be a Home and Home series. They won't be a pushover as they return their conference's freshman of the year plus 5 seniors.

we called Gary Williams (Maryland) to see if he'd play us or any Valley team, and he said he'd call back, but never did... ;)

btw-- I never did get that call back that Larry Eustachy promised me personally in his email!
http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread.php?p=107757#post107757

also-- I am anxiously awaiting the release of the Southern Miss schedule,
to see if they have their customary 4 regular season NAIA opponents this season.

Also, good news for any Bears fans.....the Nov. 8 exhibition against Lewis is the only home game "conflict" for those that don't know if they should stay home and watch football or go to the Bradley game.

Idaho St. is a 6:05 tip-off and the Bears don't even play that day.

Wofford is a 2:05 tip-off and the Bears don't start until 7:20 that night.

More evidence how tough scheduling must be for mid-majors...

Marshall has THREE non-D-I's right in the middle of their schedule...

their 6th regular season game is vs. Salem International on Dec. 3
their 9th regular season game is vs. Brescia on Dec. 16
and 24 games into the regular season they a home date on Feb 10 vs. Rio Grande!!

It's not a conspiracy as much as it is sound strategy - if the selection committee isn't going to take mid majors with marginal schedules, why bother giving the mid majors the ammunition they need to fight with?

so then the bigger schools have "cracked the code" and outsmarted the selection committee?

I wouldn't call it as much "cracking the code" as much as it's in their best interests from a financial perspective not to schedule mid majors, and it just so happens to leave us high and dry. And they're not crying for our misfortune.
