BU and KSU are his favs......no hurry to make a choice. Mattson reporting on DSE.....

Good choices....SLU is puzzling but hey what do I know.

Wants to take his visits....

DSE....good luck whatever you decide. BU would LOVE to have you.

I understand that this is a tough decision for anyone, but with the talent out there that is already listed as transfering schools, I think that I would expedite the process if I were DSE.

Just for the record I believe Mattson said DSE stated he was in no hurry....I wasn't saying he didn't need to.:) Not saying thats how you read it Ben...just wanted to clarify.

Glad you cleared that up DRU. The way I read you post, I thought that Mattson stated this about DSE during his report. There are some situations in life in which if you "snooze, you lose." You just never know about things.... By all accounts, I have heard that DSE is a nice kid. I don't want to see him miss out on an opportunity on a school he likes by not being in a hurry. It's getting close to LOI time... A lot of kids out there are making their decisions. Both HS kids and transfers.....

We lose Dodie and Chris Roberts after next year. I say get DSE to replace one of them.

If DSE is expected to be a point guard, then he's not looking at heavy minutes his first two years with McCain and Maniscalco. But he'll get significant minutes by his junior year, and he'll probably be the man his senior year.

Yeah I also think that DSE would find plenty of minutes as we'll be pretty thin at PG... Just EM and SM on the roster now.

I think you're forgetting about Dodie for next year, I don't understand why everyone sees him as a 3. He's a natural PG, we just play so small he slots in at the 3. He started in the Big 12 as a pg 2 yrs ago. I actually prefer him running the point to EM, our roster was just so weird that he was at the 3 this year. I have no problem playing 3 guards, but when we look at TW as a 4, or rule out someone as pg because they're over 6 ft, we've got problems...
(Sorry, that mini-rant wasn't aimed at you fish)

well Kansas State does NOT presently have an open scholarship for 2009.
My guess is that the real reason Dyricus is still waiting is because he is hoping Kansas State will find someone
who doesn't fit or who wants to leave and then a scholarship will open up and DSE will get a free ride to a Big 12 school.
(here are the 13 players K-State presently has bound to scholarships for this fall, 2009 -
seniors: Buchi Awaji, Denis Clemente, Luis Colon, Abdul Herrera
juniors: Ron Anderson, Fred Brown, Curtis Kelly, D. Peterson, Jacob Pullen, Dominique Sutton
sophs: J. Henriquez, Jamar Samuels
freshmen: Wally Judge, Rodney McGruder, Nick Russell)
There is some rumor that Colon might be on the outs...but as of right now they do not have a free ride.

Also, UNI has one scholarship for 2009, but some thought walk on Adam Rodenberg might get it...so we will have to wait and see.

Memo to Dyricus....I have family who live in northern Iowa, and it gets very, very, very cold and windy in the winter,
and there's just nothing - and I mean absolutely NOTHING in the entire world to do in Cedar Falls.
Not to mention the girls in that part of the state...well...you just don't want to know. (sorry PTTB! ;))

So get on the ball and verbal to BU!

For what it's worth, I had a friend transfer from UIUC to Bradley after a year. One of the first things he told me was that the hottie-to-guy ratio at Bradley was excellent. :)

OK I went to school the wrong time!

I met Colon on a long plane ride down to PR a few years ago when Huggins was coaching there. He is one tall dude! We were in the seats in the front of coach and his kness were still coming up to his chest. I told me some good Huggins stories about how he runs practice. I'd be suprised if he does not finish up in K-St unless he knows he will not graduate and want to make some money playing in PR.

There's a reason they call it frostbite falls.

Amckillip no I don't really disagree. Thought dodie would get some minutes at the point but he really didn't. I see him in our system at the 2. Either way shouldn't matter much since he and DSE will be on the roster for only one season.

I have seen DSE a number of times....

He is very strong guard, cut very much like SM.

He is a good defender, very quick...decent hands.

Ball handling is above average, can get to the basket.

I think he needs to work on his outside shot

He would be a good pick up for BU, hope he chooses BU!

This is interesting with DSE looking at UNI. Up until this weekend, I had not heard of him looking at UNI.

I do know that UNI is being very selective with who they bring in. Jake does not want to do anything to mess with the chemistry on the team with everyone back, but Travis Brown. The chemistry is what made this team what it was. The fact that DSE is looking at UNI at this point in the process means that he must be a pretty solid kid both on and off the court. I don't know the kid, but I'm sure he's must be a good one...I'd appreciate input from those who do know more about him and his game.

UNI has 2 open scholys. UNI will most likely only bring in one late signee, with the other scholarship going to walk-on Brian Haak. If no one is brought in, Adam Rodenberg would get the other scholy. That would put UNI at 3 former walk-ons as scholarship players. Jake has been able to get guys to come in, walk-on, redshirt, and develop with the chance at scholarships down the road. So far, it's proven to be successful. Guys like Matt Schneiderman and Jared Josten have been guys who walked on first and then got scholys.

Jake likes running a 2 PG offense...DSE sounds like he would fit that mold fairly well.

As for Frostbite Falls, it's cold in the winter...no doubt. Guess what? If you can't handle a couple degree difference, then I'm not sure you're tough enough. :) :) :)

As for the females, there usually aren't the fake kind around here. When I came to college, there were a ton more females than I was used to when in HS. At UNI, DSE has 7,000 females on campus to choose from, as compared to about 2,000 at Bradley! :) (jk, BU fans)

Anyway, I'd appreciate more info on DSE. Thanks!

PTTB......last I heard on DSE......he'd prefer his women not be 100% corn fed! :o

I also have seen DSE play numerous times. I think he has a big upside. His outside shot is underrated. It improved significantly this year over last year. He became a solid free throw shooter this year.He can get to the rim and is a solid rebounder for a guard. I think his weakness is ballhandling. What I am impressed with is he always looked Coach Brown in the eye as he was getting yelled at. Didn't pout. Nobody escapes the wrath........
I would say he would be a candidate for a redshirt if he signed with BU.He's had two significant injuries that would have time to heal somewhat.
I think BU fans would love him. And two other things: he's worked hard as you don't play for Coach Brown unless you do and he's pretty fundamentally sound(i.e. he's been coached well).
I really would like to see him at BU

A red shirt for EITHER Eastman or DSE (IF he comes) would be OK with me. The DSE case would make more sense though. Let him heal more,,,get stronger...work on his game and he will have longer at the point or 2 spot with Sam and co. a year closer to graduation.

I know kids don't like to hear the r/s possibility but it CAN really help a player.

Anyway...hope we here something soon regarding the last scholie.......

Good luck to DSE whatever he decides. Looks like he has some good choices. Free education is NEVER bad. :)
