Buescher resigns

SRW - He might make close to that if he would be at the top of the salary schedule, but he would probably only get credit for the years he has been in Public School education. Thus, he won't be close to 6 figures.

Here is the link to the last coaches salary at Morton

The numbers included do not include summer work

Bu30. I concur that what you are saying has relevance. But EB has a number of years in public schools

With the TRS (Teachers Retirement System)contribution, the summer work with camps etc Morton is a great job.

I don't know much more than that, but I would be surprised if pay was the issue.

The 87k represents all of his trs earnings which would include his coaching stipend. He also has 37 years in the system which would have him at the top of the pay scale. I don't think Eric has any more than 10 years experience which would probably put him in the 50-55k range for his teaching salary. I'm sure he was making at least double at BU.

Using The Champion is not a good source as to what EB salary at Morton would be. Please understand that a school district does not have to compensate for every year that someone has taught in a public school. They may choose to start him at year 1 or 0 if they choose. I doubt Morton would give Eric all 10 years he has. Most coaching salaries are based either on a scale or percent of gross pay. So saying that EB would make close to $100,000 is way off base.

Limestone has the highest paid coaches in the Mid-Illini from my recollection.

Let's figure he can make $50K from teaching and coaching. How much can he make to run a summer program? I'd also suspect that he could start up an AAU team.

His wife makes $65 according to the same site.

I do agree that eduction in education does make a difference.

But they (Morton) are not going to to skimp on the hire. Thats why they made a change to begin with.

I guess my point is....

His wife works in the district. He knew what the job would pay all along.

That was not the reason he is not getting hired.

There are structural reasons, that are neither pro nor anti EB, but rather part of being part of a government system.

Most HS coaches I know don't run a summer program to line their own pockets....

I would not think it is about lining your pocket but making a living. Why not work during the summer, do what you like and get paid. What do the coaches do during the summer months? I hope if they are working they are getting paid.

I can't be very specific, but from my job experience, I have a very good idea as to the salary range of people in the Central Illinois area. From my experience and imho, the above posts seem to be very accurate!

Willie Scott??

Willie Scott (former BU player) is a successful head coach in junior college in Chicago. He is a friend of JLs, and he is as well connected in Chicago as anyone we could get here as an assistant. I saw him at a recent Bradley home game. I think Air Petey knows more than he's telling us.

Da Coach - Great call on this back in March!

SaintLouBrave22 - Bad call on this one!!

Ie that was a little thought out joke on my part.
