Coaching carousel begins

ahah....the rumors begin....
Boston College is Bruce Pearl's alma mater - he was there when Tom Davis was coach and served as an undergrad asst. at the same time that KK was there as a gad asst.
And of course the Big East is always going to be a bit more appealing than the SEC, and especially at Tennessee where MEN'S basketball sits in 3rd place behind football (1st) and WOMEN'S basketball (2nd)!!

Look for BC to pursue Pearl!

Do you think BC can afford him?

Hmm...wonder if Jones' talented freshman Hassan Whiteside will stay at Marshall........

suspicions were correct.........
Hassan Whiteside is likely leaving Marshall..but he might not transfer,
and the current rumor is that he's going to enter the 2010 NBA Draft!

Will he succeed or be another POB?

Why is it now that so many enter the draft and are comfortable with their low status among the scouts?

I just noticed yesterday that a Jr. G was entering the draft, can't recall the name, but the draft projections had him 2nd round to undrafted, so I ask, why come out early?

If youre not ready, you don't have high draft status, or both, why make the jump?

It could be you are not making it in the classroom so why bother and try to go to the pros anyway. If you are border line draft material you can always pick up a pay check, just maybe not the NBA!

But if thats the case then why even bother...

Why not go the Brandon Jennings way?

Why not go the Brandon Jennings way?

Beacause it takes a year of college to get noticed unlike Brandon Jennings. Border line NBA players are getting scouted by other pro leagues and if you do not think agents are not aware of this well?

Huggins, Calipari, Gillispie, Floyd....surely Dave Bliss will be the next guy hired!

I have to disagree with the grouping there...have met 3 of the 4 coaches...

Bob Huggins is a great guy, really is...

The other two I met, can't say I met 2 guys that were more full of it than Calipari and Gillespie....

I've met a few of Huggin's ex players and they were all pretty nice and not one had anything bad to say about him. In fact it was really positive and how he was a positive role model for their development.

Toledo hires Tod Kowalczyk as their new head coach.
Kowalczyk was formerly the head coach at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, so now they will begin a search for a new coach.

Here are a couple possible candidates to take over at UW-Green Bay

Wisconsin associate coach Greg Gard-

A couple more surprises-

Interim coach Jerome Allen, who took over for Glenn Miller who was 0-7, was named the permanent coach at Penn-

Holy Cross fires Sean Kearney after just 1 season!-

And Steve Lavin agrees to take the job at St. John's-

The move by St. John's may force DePaul to go for a big name coach.

DePaul could do worse the either Skinner or Kent. I like them both and believe they could both do a really good at DePaul IMO.

I can't see either taking the DePaul job. Drew is better off at Baylor, and Gregory is better off waiting for a Big Ten job he likes. He will eventually get one. Maybe they are just enhancing their resume's, or working their schools for a raise or extension.

I agree. I don't see an attraction to look at DePaul for a coach from a successful program like Xavier and what Drew has done at Baylor

Chris Mack is at Xavier...and will be interviewing for BC from what I have been told, along with Mooney from Richmond and Donahue from Cornell...

Gregory is at Dayton...I think you are confused...

Not sure Drew wouldn't get more money at DePaul AND would be back home in the Midwest as he's from the Chicago Metro East Area...

Also, what job is this Gregory is holding out for?

Unless the Michigan State, Illinois, Wisconsin, or Purdue jobs just magically open up there isn't another job worth his time.
