Connor Hickman enters portal

Forget Connor now,sounds like a done deal.Let's move on and find players that want to be at Bradley.Should be able to find someone just as good or better with all the players entering the portal

He certainly doesn't owe me, or anyone on this board an explanation. To insinuate he does is ridiculous. Am I going to miss watching Hickman play, yes absolutely, but college basketball has become a paying job (more than the previous scholarship/housing/etc.) to these kids. Seeing as it's a job, he has the opportunity to presumably make more money, at a more prestigious company, with better facilities/offices, and better visibility. If you look at it from this being his "job", wouldn't you do the same? Strip basketball out of the equation, and unfortunately this makes sense.

It really sucks to say, but all mid-majors are essentially entry level jobs at this point. Some people become "lifers" and are here 4-5 years, and some people take a new job (transfer) after a year or two. If you excel at your craft, you should be rewarded and move up in the world. The problem is, basketball and feelings get in the way, and until you're a blue blood, this is always how it's going to be.

Reminds me of a Matt Roth situation, go to a BIG 10 team (Indiana) that is really down right now, just kind of languish there without much success vs. going to a school like BU where they can really contribute and have a great chance at some good post-season moments.

Pretty much how I feel about the players who choose to quit and go elsewhere. I no longer care about them. I don't hope they fail, don't hope they succeed. They chose to quit the school and team that gave them an opportunity to play and improve, and I choose to no longer care about them either way. There's not a one of them I look back on with the same affection as I have for those who stayed with us.

if the trend continues, the day may come when I'll just drop the season tickets rather than just watch a revolving door of players.

There are a lot perks at a P5 school that Bradley can't compete with from housing, environment, and I am sure facilities. I agree with you though, I would have to think long and hard about how big of a fish I want to be in the size a pond I swim in.

If you see the world as all about money, sure. If you see things outside of money, then I completely disagree with this sentiment.

If you want to go down the job analogy, I will, too. some people join a company at the entry level. Realize it's a great fit and you love the people, the work, the mission, etc. Eventually you get promoted and get more recognition over time. I equate this to the Burch and Atlason situations where they are just at the ground floor. Or possibly even better would be Ville, who could barely play as a freshman and ended up having a great career and will be remembered for his maturation among many other things.


Everyone sees the world a different way. Unfortunately too many athletes have a short sighted view of what will really make you happy. Everyone always wants more money, whether you're homeless or a millionaire - doesn't make you happy on its own.
 
The other thing that sucks about this situation is hearing what a type group these guys were.Well as the old saying goes, money talks,shit walks.So sad it's become that.Like everyone else really thought the "3" would stick together.
 
Rumor from @austinbliker on Twitter is that Connor is reuniting with Drew, which I almost guessed earlier today.
 
I said this on an earlier post that the mid majors should have their own tournament, since the Izzos of the world don't think the "Mids" belong in the Big Dance. There's more I could say but I'll leave it at that.

That's essentially what the CIT and CBI are.
 
And as I posted once before, the power conference schools would be happy if the mid-majors and smaller schools went off and had their own tournament. Then they could keep all the revenues from the NCAA Tournament for themselves, and totally exclude the smaller schools. So I don't see mid-majors doing that.

I'm with you Big Mike. Hick had a chance maybe a slim chance to maybe some day be inducted into the BU Hall of Fame but I certainly would hope not now. I'm done with him also. Never thought he'd leave. Oh did I say the portal and NIL sucks.
 
Bottom line there is no loyalty to the team that took a chance on you, developed you and spent a lot of money for 3 years on you and you choose to go elsewhere. Most of us fans are pretty much done with these players that choose to go elsewhere.
