in my opinion (not that anybody asked for it) I think DA is a more polished coach than JL right now. That isn't to say that JL couldn't become a better coach some day. he has shown growth and improvement.
with one exception, I think Creighton has a team of solid, good young men too. Creighton is the one valley school that i respect and admire more than any other; not just for their athletics, but their University as a whole is top-quality.
If I was starting a team, unaffiliated with any specific university, Dana is my coach. right now. But obviously JL has great ties to Bradley and he is blossoming into a better coach all the time. the potential for JL to be better is there. Let's be consistently successful, get a few conference championships, and end this debate!

but he doesn't speak directly to his interaction with Stinnett...
"So what was the Stinnett suspension all about? Altman won't say. But a
source close to the program says it had to do with Stinnett missing a study
hall, then smarting off to the coach after the Arkansas-Little Rock game.
"I've been here 14 years and how many times has a player been suspended?"
Altman said. "You can count them on one hand. I don't think I'm
unreasonable."
"Lower your expectations because guys don't meet them?" Altman said. "No.
Your program has to have standards, things that are not negotiable."
Look, when it comes to non-conference scheduling, Altman is too stubborn.
Creighton should do what it takes to get games against major conference
teams.
And I wonder sometimes about CU's recruiting. For a guy who stresses
rebounding, Altman never seems to have many rebounders. If you want to
get more physical, and the coach does, then get more physical players.
The thing is, Altman isn't that demanding.

Tornado: We clearly had a better team than Creighton last year, and the Bluejays beat us 2 times out of 3.
Now, if we had to go into a one-game lose or go home situation on-the-fly, I think JL has a system that is difficult to prepare for.
But over a season, and overall, there is no comparison.
Creighton seldom loses to a team that is better than. That is a constant and repeated problem for BU under JL. However, he does seem to be able to get the team to play games here or there at a level beyond it's apparent capability. But that is sporadic and not consistent the way many would like it.
Now, if we had to go into a one-game lose or go home situation on-the-fly, I think JL has a system that is difficult to prepare for.
But over a season, and overall, there is no comparison.

How do you explain their problems in the NCAA tournament then?
They have played quite a few they should have won....
BUt I do agree, as consistency is the key for Les...as we can tell sometimes, his players don't always have it, so how do you expect him to have it?

2001: 7 Iowa over 10 Creighton
2002: 12 Creighton over 5 Florida; 4 Illinois over 12 Creighton

2005: 7 WVU over 10 Creighton
2007: 7 Nevada over 10 Creighton
