yup..P'Allen did not start......but then neither did Cavel...so I think this is Dana sending a message...

but Lawson also only played 13 minutes...and he wasn't mentioned at all in the story of their intrasquad scrimmage......
so what's up??
Some of the numbers certainly show evidence of lack of depth in the paint....

here are some stats that are pretty surprising...but may be due to Lawson's small minutes..
Rebounds: Missouri Western 44 - Creighton 28
Offensive rebounds: Missouri Western 19 - Creighton 10
POINTS IN PAINT: Missouri Western 42 - Creighton 38
2ND CHANCE POINTS: Missouri Western 22 - Creighton 10

I don't know who Ashford is, but he already scares me :-o
Ashford was recruiting by and committed to Bobby Knight at Texas Tech. He ended up not qualifying academically and had to go the JUCO route. He has P'Allen type athleticism and is smooth - fun to watch. I suspect it will take him a while to come along (around 1/2 the season) like it usually does with JUCOs at CU.

Creighton is going to have a tough time against bigger teams in the valley. In that regard, I think they are overrated.

Besides UNI there are tons of question marks from every team at the 4-5 position. I also believe CU will not be contesting for the top spot this year.

But we're the ones that are being picked 6th, based mostly on "question marks" in the frontcourt.

IF UNI crushes some preseason exhibition creampuff, and Egleseder and Koch go wild, would that validate some posters' proposition a top MVC team or champion needs to have a strong inside presence/game?

Pollsters may be picking BU 6th this year in the MVC because they don't think BU players collectively and JL are better than the other 5 teams picked higher.

But we all know better! ;)

The only way to know is to play the games and see what happens.

Since several teams in the Valley have good guards, the difference may be which teams' bigs produce....or help disrupt other teams' offenses.

Well, just rundown who the projected starters are and rank them from 1-10.

I'm pretty certain Lawson, Carter, Harriman (sp) don't wind up at #1, but they certainly are quite a ways from #10

I may be biased here, but I don't see Egolf, Brown, and Roberts being lower than them though...

Coming from the other side of the fence, regardless of what pollsters think, BU along with a few other top teams always have a shot. This conference has always been that way.
