Cubs have a magic number

Thru Sept 19:

Division

MN = 1 Milw (163-92-70)

NL home field (Cubs already clinched home field against the West)
MN = 4 NY (163-92-67)

NL Wild Card (not a consideration if the Cubs win their division)
MN = 3 Phil (163-92-68 )

Congrats to the Cubs for a great season so far, and their first back to back division championships in goodness knows how long! :) Winning divisions never gets tiring, but I think we have much higher goals set for this year. Hopefully this is just the beginning of a great month of baseball to come!

Thru Sept 20:

Cubs win!!!!!!! Magic Number is 0

NL home field vs East (Cubs already clinched home field against the West)

MN = 2 PHIL (163-93-68 )
MN = 2 NY (163-93-68 )

Thru Sept 20 (pending the Phillie game):

NL home field vs East (Cubs already clinched home field against the West)

MN = 1 PHIL (163-94-68 ) (Mets eliminated)

Sox won today and the Twins won today. Sox still up 2.5 games. Big 3 game series for the Sox starting Tuesday in Minnesota. Come on Cubs fans, I root for you, how about you root for the White Sox, lets play ball in October.

OK, my one daughter, her husband, and kids are all White Sox fans. BTW, their MN is now 5.

All Chicago World Series.

I can do that.....never been a Sox hater. I always tell people I come from a mixed marriage...Dad is a Cubs fan, Mom is a Sox fan.....apparently when you cross the two you get a monkey with glasses :)

Cubs win as they clinch the best record in the National League and home field throughout the NL playoffs.

I think that win really made things tough for Jim Hendry and Lou. Jason Marquis has pitched really well lately and has all but assured himself of a playoff spot (for the first time in 3 years). He no doubt deserves it, but it'll be interesting to see who is the odd man out now. I have a feeling it's gonna be Chad Gaudin.
