Difference in PJ Star coverage of local teams

so...let me get this straight and the priorities of a "columnist" in proper order of importance
#1 - stir the pot
#2 - sell papers
#3 - be fair and reasonable - avoid exaggeration and hyperbole..
#4 - be honest
..gotcha........

I do not have access to the order of importance for PJStar columnists.

What lies did KW have in his last article on Bradley?

..and yet another person who agrees he doesn't have to show fairness..
so if he doesn't then why is everyone so upset when we notice it, and talk about it??
Like I said -- I just call a spade a spade...they have every right to be anti-Bradley, but I am not going to say they are pro-Bradley just because a bunch of Kirk Wessler fans get on the boards and rant...

I have only seen a few people have any problem with KW's coverage of BU.

I haven't seen many posts from people claiming they were KW fans.

Now you know how most of us feel every time a new thread is started that attacks the coaching and reminds us where Bradley has finished each of the last 8 years. :)

I never notice threads started to attack the coaching or reminding us of BU finishes. I do notice threads started that discuss the pros and cons of Bradley basketball.

OK Chico, have it as you say, if he really (witch I know he does not) enjoys it, one true way to shut him up is for BU to up their performances:!: Many more poor performances like the last home game and he won't have any problems getting his full enjoyment, as you think:)

You should know everyone doesn't always tell the truth on the golf course.

I haven't seen anyone say they are fans of KW either. Some say they think an article is good, bad or ok.

I read his article and go on with life...no obsession. I did the same about the ISU article today.

We could do a whole lot worse, like the PJS not traveling to the away games or having "wire" stories. ...

every Valley team has coverage of their away games...if we did "a whole lot worse" as you say ..
we'd be so far below the norm of the Valley that even the PJS defenders would throw in the towel...

Almost every Valley city enjoys WIDESPREAD satisfaction with their local team's coverage -- I never see threads on the other guys' boards that express much unhappines...
so you judge who gets the best coverage and use whatever criteria you want...

considering even the Peoria Mustangs, amateur youth hockey that draws a mere dozens of fans and nobody on this board can even name one single team mamber, get decent writeups and I have never seen a negative rant....compared to the the Braves...who draw 10K, you gotta wonder if BU gets its fair share of the local coverage.....

And....this is something that surprised him?

Heck you didn't need to start a message board to hear those (what he calls "attacks" )....just go to any game and peruse the concourse at halftime. Or make a quick time out pit stop in the mens room. 90% of the comments are "attacks"...this board is calm vs what the REAL :) fan on the street or at the games has to say.

I agree JD....I think the problem is the use of the word "attack".

You are correct..people start threads here to discuss the pro's/con's of all things BU. When you are not very good in ANY profession the truth often hurts.

I am fine with the moving on....
if you read the posts in this thread, it is those who disagree with my original premise that are the ones displaying the hysterics.

That's all well and fine, but I would not use a message board sample to determine that a fan base is happy with their articles.

Furthermore, I would not use this, or the other board, as a representative sample of what people think of KW. I mean, I don't agree with KW all the time, but he's great at making folks talk at the watercooler.

I honestly think people here do not want to admit that KW is doing his job correctly, and that is getting people to talk.

I'll need 60 points for that and 140 to do it in the raw.....

Dog your easy:-P All it would take to bring those #'s down, lets say:roll:30 points, would be to get some beers in you before the game, then continue the beers through the game and a few more on the way to the bridge:!: Once there and on top, have a bunch of women yelling, take it OFF:-P You'll jump and in the raw:mrgreen:

You know me too well....

the PJ star coverage is simple. BU is in Peoria, ISU is in Normal. BU is the priority team in Peoria, ISU is pretty much an after thought to most reading the PJstar. It doesn't do the sports reporters any good to dig deep down and criticize an "outside" team.

It's just like the news section. PJstar criticizes the local council members & Police when crime hits the roof. They don't go off the deep end when Bloomington area has a rash of crime. They leave it to the Pantagraph to do the heavy digging out that way.
