Donivine Stewart commits to BU

This is great news:!: Another area All State kid to BU:D Maybe this is the reason for the Tyler Les announcement a month ago about not attending BU:-o
In to 2011 we could be looking at a starting line-up of three All Starters from the Local Area:cool: Jimmy has done a great job from the beginning of getting good local kids to stay home and play:!::D If DS is as good as Ruff was, look out but we have to have a inside game like when Ruff played! Great job JL and Staff:!: Now get us a couple good Bigs to go with this:!::)

I think DS is a much better HS player in all facets than Dan Ruffin. And that's not a knock on DR, because I thought he was a very good HS player. Hopefully DS's game translates to the next level as I think it will. If it does, he'll have an outstanding career at BU.

I'm not too hot on Donivine. Most of the time it seems like he is taking way to many shots to get his points, and doesn't have the shooting percentage most would like to see. I have never seen him play, but I've talked to some who have, and they have mostly said he lacks the quickness for D1 ball playing PG. I don't know though, just what I've heard.

In no way am I bashing him as a recruit I think he has good potential, but I have heard many of the same things. I think he got a lot of offers early, because teams thought he would grow and gain quickness. That appears to have not happend. However everything thing I have read has said he has really high basketball IQ. That is one thing you cant teach.

I couldn't disagree MORE!

He took many shots bc he was the only player they had...

He made his fourth tier teammates better and if he were playing for a Richwoods, Manual, or even a Central, you'd be talking all state tournament team and a kid who has solid triple lines...

Unfortunately in hs it's more about your team makeup than anything and he just doesn't have much of one and has to go it alone plenty.

And quickness...he's the quickest guard in the area and that includes Alexander...

This is an outstanding get...good job Coach Les!

I have heard some say this. Mostly people who haven't seen much of Donivine.
I think Jim Les is a good judge of point guard skills, and he really like DS's game. He plays on a HS team and for a coach that expects him to do all the scoring, so in high school we haven't seen what he can really do as a PG.

I think he needs to improve his defense. I also would like his outside shot to improve.(I think it will). I think he is a perfect fit at BU though. He will work hard and continue to improve.

Many people complain about the recruiting of "athletes who can't play basketball." Well, if this verbal doesn't address that complaint I don't know how you could.

DS will be more of a distributor at BU than a scorer initially. He will be a pass-first guy who can collapse a defense. I hope we can find the shooters and bigs to surround him. DSE and JE might be two of those guys, but they both need to improve on their outside shooting. DS is perfect for a guy like Milos.

Like I said, just what I have heard about him from people that have seen him play. I hope he is a very good player for BU. I guess we will have to wait and see how he fits in the team.

"I love the city of Peoria and I really love playing for my city," Stewart said. "During AAU season, the Chicago kids call me Peoria. Playing for Bradley is like playing for my hometown.

This is what I'm talking about!

LOVE the quote as I am all about bringing in whoever that wants to bring back the winning tradition and the respect back to Peoria and anyone who will represent the community on and off the court in a positive way, and Donivine is just another kid that'll do that.

For those who haven't seen DS play, I would say the closest thing to him at BU recently size-wise and athletically would be Will Franklin. However, WF was more of a true combo, where as I think DS is more of a true point. I think DS has a higher upside than WF (who was pretty darn good), but that might give some an idea of the kind of athlete we're talking about.

Everyone here would have loved Darius Smith to come to BU last year. IMO, Donivine Stewart is as good as Darius Smith, and a much better shooter.

Plus he really wants to be a Brave! There is more value to that then even an extra star next to his name, IMO.

Note the one user comment at the bottom of this article-

note that the comment is not from the tornado on this board, but from a cowardly weasel who hides in anonymity and pretends to be tornado, but this imposter is not a fan, but really hates Bradley. This is not the first time this BU-hater has surfaced on the PJ Star user comments.

And there are still some fans here who won't accept that there are pathologic people who pretend to be BU fans, but who really hate Bradley and are jealous of the fan support they have.

I agree that he is as good as Darius Smith. They are different though. Donivine is much better on offense and DS was much better on defense.

I like them both.
